Guardian Angels

In my son's house, it's because one of the cats has caught a bird.

We had a lot of white feathers floating around then I discovered that the feather cushions from John Lewis were shedding.

The power of positive thought is a good thing; however, I cannot believe that the angels, if they exist, would ignore small children who suffer.

There doesn't need to be rhyme or reason. You are allowed not to believe in guardian angels. Others are allowed to believe.
Maybe it is just a mental placebo, but it doesn't do any harm.

Are we still in the Middle Ages by any chance?

Good things happen to good people Paddyann. I've always thought a white feather was an angel nearby. Also the power of positive thinking is incredible.

Does that explain why many little children suffer terrible fates Barmyoldbat?

While I appreciate that the thought of guardian angels may be comforting to some, how do you explain tragedies and events which happen to others? Do they not have a guardian angel? Do they not deserve one? I think it is more likely to be intuition, and senses that we have perhaps lost but temporarily regain.

O yes I believe in a guardian angel 'he' is with me all the time. I ask him to guide me and help me. My husband has been seriously ill but with the help of mine and his guardian angel he has pulled through. The whole family at this terrible time has been finding white feathers in the most unexpected places, which is a sign that the Angels are with you.

Who can explain guardian angels any more than they can explain God?

Yes, all of those who claim to have one and have been protected and guided through life's trials, how do you explain why those who suffer through no fault of their own don't appear to have one?

Surely they are just as worthy as you, or have they somehow slipped through the net...

I think I've a Guardian angel ? Or something,my cat who sits on me a lot looks up and to my left shoulder(always the left) at first when it happened he looked a bit startled,but now he seems quite used to it.It may sound a bit crazy but when it appears I just say"is that you my angel,Thankyou for looking after me"It also happens when sitting in bed,left shoulder again,my husband wants to know why he hasn't got one!?LoL.

There are no guardian angels looking out for anyone ( you only have to look at the tragic things that happen to children, let alone adults to realise that.)
Co-incidence and random events, bad luck, good luck, call it what you will, but not angelic interference in my view.

I do believe in angels and that we each have a guardian angel. If you ask for help then they will be there. Paddyann in recent years we had house purchases fall through for various reasons leaving us very disheartened yet we finally moved to a place which has resulted in us being happier than we would ever have been in any of the other properties. Fate? Angel guidance? Perhaps just coincidence? Everyone will have their own opinion. As I said this is my belief, I don't expect everyone to have the same beliefs as me!

Mine watches over me well. She saw me through bc surgery, childbirth and raising my children. Sees me through childminding GC, too.

I definitely have one, when I had my sub-arachnoid haemorrhage at the end of November, the symptoms first appeared when I was out with DD and DGD, when I collapsed I was at my DPs house, both of whom are retired medical professionals (DM a nurse, DF a paramedic) I ended up spending 18 nights in hospital. 13 weeks on, I'm almost fully recovered and am now on annual leave following the birth of DGD no 2 last week. I am aware how lucky I am to still be here.

We were vacationing in Florida many years ago with our kids and other family member. We waited at a red light to go on the main road. There was a bus behind us. I always say the Lord's Prayer before I drive anywhere. Light changed to green I pulled out and we heard the screeching of tires and saw this car coming straight for us on my driver's side. It was going to hit us broadside. He missed us by a hair and slammed into the side of the bus behind us. Needless to say someone was watching over us for sure that day.

I do believe that things happen for a reason which helps when things seems to be going wrong.

No, I don't believe in guardian angels or anything like that.

I think that people notice when their prayers are answered ('a miracle!') but don't when they are not, and for every prayer that is 'answered' there are 1,397,645,205 that aren't, but of course we forget about those!

I'm glad when things turn out for the best, and sad when they don't, but guardian angels? No way!

Sometimes we just need to have that hope. When things threaten to overwhelm us, belief in a guardian angel can be wonderful.

The Poem 'The road not taken' by Robert Frost says it all for me, a lovely poem which sort of explains our decision making .

I'd like to think I had one, but if I had, why doesn't everyone?

Yes, for almost every stroke of good luck mentioned (not buying that particular house, not boarding that plane) there are the losers - the owners who lost everything due to flooding, and the other plane passengers who lost their lives.
