I'd forgotten about Champion the Wonder horse, I can hear the music now!

How about 'kung fu' on a Saturday evening? At least, I think that's what it was called.

Don't remember Flicka but always watched Fury and Champion the Wonder Horse.

I loved The Lone ranger. Does anyone remember My Friend Flicka a western about a horse. There was Ivanhoe,William Tell.
I don't suppose you remember a serial called The Red Grass that was really good.

I remember that the fellow who played Ian Harman in Compact was also in Crossroads. ( Why can I remember that, but don't remember why I went into the kitchen! I also remember that Sandy Richardson in Crossroads was played by Roger Tonge.)
I think Compact was written by the same people who wrote Crossroads. I may be wrong, I was wrong once before.

I was another Love the Neighbour fan, shame it`s not pc anymore, I`d love to see them all again, also Mind Your Language with Barry Evans. Oh, and the early series of Please Sir.
And when we got our first television, I loved Prudence Kitten, with, I think, Annette Mills. Wasn`t she the sister of Sir John Mills?

Before Crossroads was Noel Gordon in something called Lunchbox? Might have been a magazine programme.

I watched Compact with the two girls I shared a house with, when I was in my first two years of teaching. One of the others was a trainee journalist who was absolutely besotted with the programme (I wasn't) and who later became a very highly regarded editor of a very prestigious periodical. Sadly, she died before her time of breast cancer.

I don't remember Compact and Crossroads being 'related'.

DM just loved Crossroads, if she went out to lunch she'd ask to have the tv on. DF once took her to a function at Brum's Tower Ballroom, she came back ecstatic to have met some of the cast! The only name that springs to mind is Amy Turtle.
I always liked the comment Of a reviewer about Benny - 'is he acting? And if he is why is he in Crossroads?' Fair point, I think he'd actually worked at the RSC.

DanniRae I met Richard O'Sullivan once. He was in a play at a theatre in Birmingham in his Man About The House heydey. Also in the play were Yootha Joyce and Sally Thomsett. I went with my sister and as we were leaving, Richard walked past us, heading for the bar. We turned around and followed him. He stood in the bar chatting and signing autographs. He was lovely. He was hilarious in the play. I too am sad that he is in poor health.

I also remember Hylda Baker and Pledge 's Pickles, ' must get a little hand for this watch' Forgotten the title of the show.

miniMouse I have no idea who she was, I just remember sitting with mum, both of us fascinated by these women doing odd things on the tiny screen!

I was going to mention Compact - I loved it. I was probably aged around 13 at the time and it seemed very glamorous.

I love this thread - two of my favourites were "The Groves" and a few years later "Family at War". Even more recently I loved "Man About the House" - I thought Richard O'Sullivan was gorgeous. Have watched it all again just lately on dvd and still think he was gorgeous. What a shame he is now suffering from ill health

My friends didn't have a telly, so came to ours every Friday to watch Dr. Kildare!

Does anyone else remember Richard Hittleman, doing Yoga on TV. I used to try and follow him and was usually on the floor when the DC came home from school. Those were the days when I could get down and up again off the floor, without embarassing myself.

We always watched the early evening soaps. My mother particularly liked "Compact" which was about a women's magazine, as she used to work on a newspaper before the war and knew the ins and outs of that sort of workplace. When that packed up, it was the "Newcomers" - about a load of Londoners who were re-housed in a fictitious place somewhere in East Anglia - again, we identified a bit with that, as Londoners who had moved out to the sticks.

Daktari was on Mondays. And the Man from UNCLE was the highlight of the week, second only to (dare I say it?) Top of the Pops.

I also loved coming home, even as a sixth former, and watching Magpie (can still sing the theme tune) or Blue Peter - or "At last the 1948 Show" - a special treat!

When my father was away, I could sneak a watch of Monty Python - very important to keep up with the conversations in the classroom the next day!

And even today, at 5.25 on a Saturday, I stillget the urge to watch Dr Who. Maybe I'll order a box set and watch them again, or try and catch up with some of the new versions.

Sorry to go on so, but I've also just remembered the Dick van Dyck and the Mary Tyler Moore show - great family entertainment!
