Car seats

We do transport. Started with a Bugaboo. Then car seat. Then bigger car seat . GD no 2 using them second hand. Then scooters each and 2 lots of bikes. GD1 is now 10, a car in 7 years then ?

Most of us blithely trusted to the carrycot with orvwithout the restraining straps on the back seat or in the boot of the hatchback, but it was sobering to hear Justin Welby and his wife LOST their first child in an accident when the baby was in its carrycot in just those circumstances

When I offered to pay for the pram for my new GDS, I was told it was not a pram, but a "Travel system". It certainly was, a new car would probably have been cheaper.

Angib- its not a pushchair its a 'mobility system' according to the packaging on DDs!

Fortunately I don't drive any more but I'm still trying to get my head around the pushchair. Last time my granddaughter stayed with us I was shown how to "operate" the pushchair I pretended to understand but didn't. When asked if we had gone out for a walk, I said it had been too cold. I think I need to go on a course of some sort.

I remember my husband drilling holes on the parcel shelf of our Hillman Alpine, in order to fit carry cot restraints. However, that left very little room for the other two under fives who were also sitting in the back seat. I am paranoid about making sure the Isofix is secure and car seat is securely fixed. Then of course I can't get the seat back out again. I just end up walking in the rain with DGD!.

Yes ours were put in a carrycot on the back seat, loose to roll about.
We took our new GD out this week, isofix on back seat, put in car seat, make sure you get the beeps! We had that bit sussed but how to get seat back out. Next time add 15 minutes to journey!

Me too, angib. Think we all must have been. . Times were different. I'm sure we're all pleased that the little ones are safer now, although I can never tighten the straps on the flipping seat tight enough and please don't ask me to put one in the car. Have been known to opt to walk .
