Silly Sausage

The "Sausoligist" lady was telling us about a class she ran the previous week Ana in which there were 15 women and 1 man (poor thing). Now if that had of been the case for us, DH would have probably chickened out. As it stood it was a good mix of ages and men/women so all fine.

Glad it turned out so well gillybob, I must admit I did feel a teeny bit worried about your DH's reaction but obviously he wasn't too far out of his comfort zone!

If I lived up there I definitely would be booking a day out with hubby or daughter.

Resting sausages!! What next.

Not yet Jane10 they recommend that you rest them for a day or 2 I guess all sausages need to rest. Although some probably need to rest longer than others
We now have enough sausages to feed a small army !

Reporting back on the "Gourmet Sausage Making" course.

It was absolutely fantastic and the best fun DH and I have had in ages. The one we went to was run by the Northumberland Gourmet Sausage Company based in Corbridge, Northumberland but there are probably others.

For the record the meat was excellent cuts of Pork Shoulder (no crap in there whatsoever) and you have to make your own mince before you start. Then you can add pretty much whatever you like from the various ingredients available. We decided on Leek and Apple for one batch and Honey and Thyme for the second batch which you get to bring home with you.

The "Sausoligist" (as she called herself) kept the innuendo just right, a bit cheeky but not too over the top although squirting the sausage meat into the "skin" is a cause for much hilarity and there really is only one method you can use .

Making the links is trickier than you think and our first batch are a bit "questionable" but as the Sausoligist said "sausages do come in various thucknesses and lengths"
Our second batch were almost perfect if I say so myself!

All in all it was a brilliant afternoon That I would highly recommend.

Gillybob, am I wicked..... Well probably in the nicest kind of way, but I'd be the same! Go ahead and enjoy, I think it'll be a lot of fun.

Luckygirl I'm sure he didn't mean it like that, but after he'd said it, he realised and him and the female expert fell about laughing! As did I and no doubt countless viewers!!!

Over the years we've bought our DS a Blacksmithing Day, a Tank Driving Day, a Handling Birds of Prey Day, and a two day Butchery Course.
He enjoyed them all, but as he's something of a foodie, the butchery course won hands down!
My DDiL and I are going to a gin tasting afternoon in late March as part of her birthday present. I'd never even tasted Gin until two years ago (didn't like the smell) but now am something of a fan!

DD gave her DF "Beer Bods" membership for 3 months. He gets a bottle of unusual beer/ale a week for 12 weeks and compares them on FB with other beer aficionados. He loes it!

My nephew given money by his mother for his 21st, took himself off to a course on making nipple tassels for strippers........

No idea if he enjoyed it or not.

Thank you RIVERWALK for that gin tasting course info. Never heard of that but will be straight on to research in my area. I'm so ignorant of these sort of innovative gifts so, once again, thank you GN.

That sounds lovely! I booked my DH into a weekend bread-making session at a Dartmouth B&B. He wanted to learn to make Anadama bread which is an old New England recipe. We had a bread machine, but had to learn about the difference in UK and US flours, gluten, protein, etc. It was fun and a nice place to stay and explore as well.

In January I bought two tickets at Lords for England v West Indies test match for my SIL's 40th birthday. Needless to say, he is cricket mad. When I recently enquired of the ticket office when I might receive the tickets (I had expected to have received them by now), I was told to contact them if not received by the end of April! My SIL's birthday is at the beginning of March.

Sounds like it'll be great fun gilly.

My friend's son gave her a Gin-tasting course for two .... she's taking me as I'm her bestie!

For Christmas my D bought a Thai cooking lesson at home for her husband, dad and brother. This afternoon they do the work and this evening we get to eat it. Brilliant present!

SiL enjoyed his course making bacon. A friend had a blacksmithing course for his birthday, also a day being a keeper at ZSL, greatly enjoyed both!

Hope the both of you have a fabulous time today and at least that's tonight's dinner taken care of!

Now that's one present my DD wouldn't buy for anyone inishowen .

My cousin gave her 80 year old mum a days Barrista course. She was in the local paper with her certificate as she was the oldest person to do the course. Just another suggestion for unusual birthday gifts.
