Fragrant Freesias

I love freesias as well, but would not buy them out of season. Freesias without perfume are no better than plastic or silk freesias, imo.

DH brought me freesias when I had our first baby. I've always loved them since - but you're quite right, they don't have the scent they used to.

I sent my sister freesias from a flower farm in Cornwall. She says they were fragrant for a change. I've used the same company several times and the recipients were all delighted.

Not many of the cut flowers that you buy from supermarkets these days seem to have any security scent at all. Even the Lilliesleaf don't seem to be as heavily scented as they used to be although their pollen still stains everything it touches.

Roses and freesias were my grandmothers favourite flowers
She always had a vase of flowers in the summer time all from her own garden.
Their aroma was heavenly

Freesias

I had them in my wedding bouquet also. It was supposed to be a courage but was so big I had to carry it. The smell of freebies always makes me smile. ?

I love them too and, like you greyduster, had them in my wedding bouquet but in a peach colour.

I haven't bought freesias for ages, but I love them. White freesias were my wedding bouquet!

I just wouldn't buy them if they had no scent - that's the whole point of freesias!

No its not just you Elrel I find if I buy them in the Summer they seem to smell a lot more I assume (I may be wrong) that in season they are English Freesias and in Winter they are grown abroad and they just don't have the fragrance of the Summer ones.
They used to be my favourite after Sweet Peas.
