HELP!

Thanks for all the helpful hints, noted it went of track a bit there, but what's new? I will try everything, I hate throwing things away, and it is after all brand new, and I am an idiot.

ANYA, I have a similar 3.5 metre telescopic squeegee to this. The head can be angled so could be used from above or possibly ground level. I use it for my upstairs windows, it reaches well, but the pole is a bit whippy at its full length meaning I can't exert much pressure on the rubber blade. Not perfect but can be buffed with the fluffy head when dry. A more expensive version may be stronger. Good luck, I don't like to think of you falling!

I had a magnetic thingy for cleaning both sides of the window at once, Linsco56. It worked well, but setting it up was terrifying. I'd hold one bit outside and slowly, gently move the other towards it from the inside. All of a sudden the inside bit would launch itself at its mate and they'd clamp together with a sickening thud. The window would shake as if the glass was going to shatter. Then of course you had the prising apart (and thudding back together again) afterwards. I had to chuck it for the sake of my poor shattered nerves.

Tried using my mop and nearly fell out of the window onto the conservatory roof. The problem is I have to sit on the window sill and lean out backwards, mop in one hand and holding onto window edge with the other. I need to hold on with my bad wrist (broke it in summer and still dodgy) which suddenly nearly gives out ?????

Ours just uses distilled water with a kind of rubber brush.

My window cleaner has a 'long thingy' attached to his van but the windows always seem a bit streaky. I'd prefer a man with a ladder I think!

Actually, the outside of the bedroom window looks cleaner than the inside.
How can the inside of a bedroom window in a bedroom which hasn't been used for ages have little yellow bits all over it? Is it spider poo?

If I didn't have woman flu (a head cold) I would clean it tomorrow.

We had a conservatory added last year and now have a Bedroom Window that hasn't been cleaned since last Easter!

We bought a long handled window cleaner squeezy from Lidl but it was still a bit dicey to do it when DH and I tried, he had to climb on a stepladder with me below holding on to it and calling instructions eg 'you missed a bit of bird poo to the left and up a bit'.

Dishwasher tablets work wonders. I break them up with a rolling pin and put the powder into a small jar for cleaning burnt pans etc. Just let the pans simmer in the hot water.
They also remove scrambled egg residue pretty quickly. That sticks to the pans and is hard to remove.

Rub burnt pan with a damp dishwasher tablet. Also brilliant for glass oven doors and oven shelves.

The bedroom window is fairly clean although he hasn't been for a while so he must have done it, but he didn't do the conservatory roof last time and there is some poo on there which is going to annoy me now.

I'm not sure, I'm sure he cleans that bedroom window; the conservatory is not that wide so I think he reaches it from each side.

Oh dear, it's not a bedroom that is used very often, I must take a look, if I can't see out of it for dirt then no, his thingy is not that long

Jalima but is his thingy long enough to extend up and over then conservatory roof to reach the window beyond? Mine did show me how far his would extend but, alas and alack, it wouldn't do the job.

I have think my window cleaner is a sole-operator. I might have to change him for one with more capability.

Cherrytree my Dad used to boil rhubarb leaves to get the stains out of saucepans (don't eat them!!).
I have heard that tomato sauce is good for cleaning stained metal.

Simmering with a panful of water with a few drops of washing up liquid in it often works but if it is ruined, beyond Brillo pad or Oven Pride help then I can't think of anything else.

I bought an electric steamer (3 tiers) and it is economical and I think works very well; you can do rice in it and also fish, although I haven't tried doing fish.

In fact our window cleaner doesn't come alone - there are often two and sometimes three of them because they are training a new young man, although I must have a word with him because he tends to leave a lot of drips around.

I have family arriving for a few days and I'm rushing so don't have time to post a link..sorry! I know Amazon sell magnetic window cleaning devices which are supposed to clean the outside of a window by drawing it down the inside of the windowpane, but I've never tried one.

When I had to do this with bedroom windows - being three floors up - I bought small flat mops - which I could pop out in the hinge of the window and push over the pane. I had a bathroom polishing cloth - those blue thin ones from Lakeland - which I was able to tie on the mop to finish it off afterwards - it worked the best of the methods I tried.
I think I bought the mop in Lidl or Aldi - I still use it over the bathroom tiles when they are damp.
