My SIL had a hole in the elbow of an expensive jumper. I said I would darn for him. When I returned it to him duly repaired he was amazed and said he had never seen a darn before! He had assumed I would just draw the edges of the hole together and stitch. I remember my Mother darning socks, turning collars and cuffs etc. I suppose in this throw-away society, these skills have been lost. Does anyone else still use these crafts?
