Does anybody else feel like bouncing up and down like an over enthusiastic Labrador and saying "Me too!"?
The scenario
You comment on a post, possibly agreeing with a previous poster and suddenly everybody is saying "Absolutely, yes, you are so right X, Y, and Z" (but not YOU)
Or in a group (like my book club) when somebody is trying to remember a character's name or maybe an author (we are quite forgetful).
You say it.
They carry on agonising and discussing then, Eureka moment, somebody else says " He/she was called X" and it seems churlish to sit and mutter "That's what I said 10 minutes ago"
What is the solution?
Speak up?
Shut up?
Of course if this is the only post on this thread and it disappears off the bottom of the page I know I am in fact invisible.

Oh kitty, it's ok, you know the truth smile.

kittylester Tue 07-Feb-17 15:53:07

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to get that off my chest, Maw. smile

Ana Tue 07-Feb-17 15:52:30

kitty! grin

kittylester Tue 07-Feb-17 15:51:05

This has happened to me, on here, twice recently when I've written a brilliant post grin had lots of people say. 'i agree with kitty' and then someone has come along and said the very same thing! It takes me all my time to sit on my hands and not post a really grumpy reply! It happened on two threads where people were really upset so it wouldn't have been appropriate to be rude (and I have been caught out like that before!)

And another thing!

DH is redoing his study (I know, bored now!) and I suggested a cork wall (dead on trend!) next thing I know, he's saying to interior design guru daughter, 'ive been thinking of,,,,,,, ' - she now thinks dh is dead trendy where, in actual fact, I am.angry

Or in this case pick the grandkids up from school.

Anya Tue 07-Feb-17 14:28:08

roastchicken

Anya Tue 07-Feb-17 14:27:24

No, it's to indicate that you've important things to do (like cook a roast dinner) and have to leave the forum for the time being.

Dirty minded lot that you are!

Cherrytree59 Tue 07-Feb-17 10:51:30

Or could be quite rude
As in giving someone the bird!

Greyduster Tue 07-Feb-17 10:28:40

If i were on the politics threads, it would probably denote the fact that my goose had been cooked! ?

Nana3 Tue 07-Feb-17 10:14:44

Yes shysal you put that very well, about being less eloquent I mean.
A few posters do use just a smiley, I think I will start doing that. But what is the roastchicken for?

Bellanonna Tue 07-Feb-17 09:36:52

May I join the club too? Though I'm in it anyway I suppose. I make a comment, several threads later someone else makes the same point, and that one elicits all the agreements, grins, smiles etc. Oh well, I'm not alone ☹️

shysal Tue 07-Feb-17 08:59:18

I agree that an 'agree' button would be useful smile. If my comments would echo those of a previous poster I don't always bother as mine would be less eloquent! I am glad I am not alone in all the above feelings. Watch the thread stop right here! smile

Katek Tue 07-Feb-17 08:48:19

And me! I've sounded the death knell on many a thread! Couldn't we just use the 'smile' emoticon to indicate 'like'? Hmm, that wouldn't necessarily be a suitable response on some threads though.

Greyduster Tue 07-Feb-17 07:37:30

Yes, me too, I'm afraid. You just have to grit your teeth and get on with it. We have a like button on our fishing forum and it will only accept so many named likes and then 'and thirty seven other people like this post'.

Christinefrance Mon 06-Feb-17 16:21:28

Me too sunseeker & NotTooOld maybe we should start a group for very short threads.
grannyqueenie that's exactly what happens to me sometimes, if I am short of time and come back to a thread it's often changed out of all recognition.

cornergran Mon 06-Feb-17 16:06:23

Yup, me too. I refuse to get a complex about it, sort of how it is generally, sometimes being invisible is a good thing. grin

GrandmaMoira Mon 06-Feb-17 15:04:59

Yes, I agree, I think we all suffer from this.

grannyqueenie Mon 06-Feb-17 14:05:06

By the time I work my way through past posts and work out who said what, who agreed or not with who, composed a well thought out and, not wanting to upset any visiting pedants, a grammatically correct response, I find that the discussion has all moved on. So what I've said makes little sense to me never mind anyone else, and I've probably ignored a few folk along the way, if you were one of them I apologise it wasn't intentional! grin

Rinouchka Mon 06-Feb-17 13:51:31

Yup!
But only on GN, never in my Book Group as we do listen to each other, even when the discussion gets heated.

Reading through a whole thread of 10+pages is not always possible and the very long ones, impossible, unless you stick with it throughout.

JackyB Mon 06-Feb-17 13:43:36

Oh yes, definitely - I always read threads through before I post and if someone has already said what I was going to say, I say "I agree with so-and-so" (I wish the posts were numbered on GN)

In real life it is always happening to me, too. It's so annoying when you comment on something and about 10 minutes later someone with a louder voice comes up with the same comment and gets all the credit/laughs. Of course, if your comment is wrong and goes unnoticed, then you are saved some embarrassment!

Witzend Mon 06-Feb-17 13:38:09

Jalima, my dh is the same. Won't often take any notice of anything I suggest, but let anyone else - and I do mean anyone - suggest it, and he'll often think it's a great idea.

To be fair, I don't think he even realises he does it - I've given up pointing it out now since I hate arguments - but it can be bloody annoying at times..

He would deny it to the death, but although he knows in his head that I'm very often right about so many things, somewhere deep down his primeval macho bit thinks I can't possibly know what I'm talking about.

Maybe it's a subconscious reaction to the fact that I can invariably answer more questions on University Challenge than he can!

NotTooOld Mon 06-Feb-17 13:11:37

Sunseeker - I also seem to have that super power! Perhaps it's catching.

Jalima Mon 06-Feb-17 12:20:41

It's a bit worrying, though, when someone you would normally violently disagree with agrees with your post!
iyswim

sunseeker Mon 06-Feb-17 11:25:23

I sometimes think my super power is stopping a thread dead in its tracks as often the thread seems to die once I post!

Ana Mon 06-Feb-17 11:09:05

(in reply to Anya's post)
