For about a week now pairs of male blackbirds have been in our Close, fighting for territory. They face up to each other and behave like fighting cocks. Legs, wings and claws out. I hope whoever wins will be singing for us over the summer.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is gloomy, foggy and very cold in South Yorkshire this morning. We have nothing particular to do today except walk down to the supermarket to buy a congrats card for SGS who apparently has been awarded a first in his degree course. Then I think I will bake the cakes I am making for GS's birthday and put them in the freezer until I work out how I'm going to decorate them. This year the request is for Minecraft - my biggest challenge yet! . Have a happy day folks.

Mum's doctor phoned me yesterday to say how frail she is and he's given her more antibiotics for the chest infection. She was cheerful and chatty when I dashed over to see her.
A quiet day planned, supermarket and 2 DGC coming to sleep over.

Cold and miserable too here in Norfolk.

A busier day in prospect. I'm seeing the Nurse first, then off to art class in the next town, then back here to see what the tree surgeon has to say about our two big trees which have grown far too big for a small urban garden. The walnut isn't a problem, but the Scots pine has a preservation order on it and we're facing a challenge!

Another nippy morning in the Thames Valley.

Nipping off to the dentist then dashing back to catch the tennis semi finals from OZ. Haven't things changed our grandmothers would have been aghast at being able to watch an event on the other side of the world, when they would have been setting the fire and preparing the food for the day.
