The world holds its breath as America prepares for an almighty Trump!

Sorry folks - childish, I know, but that has been going through my head for weeks now and the temptation to share it finally got the better of me. blush

On that note, I will now disappear for the weekend.

hear hear

Doubt Trump could be any worse, whatever you think of him.
The Obama administration has been marred by debt, scandals, foreign policy failures, and an overall fragmentation of the USA. He has plunged the United States into an abyss of economic debt that will create generations of American servitude paying off his wayward spending endeavours. The Red, White and Blue’s epitaph will read like a litany of failures perpetrated on both the American people and the world by this president.

Jalima grin your last post made me laugh.
Before anyone asks, yes, I did say in my OP that I was about to disappear for the weekend, but it turns out that I still have (intermittent) internet access, so am managing to follow the responses between drop-outs. smile

On a slightly different note. Myself and DH were in Barbados when Obama was inaugurated. We laughed when a man was shouting "Come and buy your Obama water". Just thinking is he still there shouting "Come and buy your Trump water" ?

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should have somehow
Realised what you gotta do
I'm gonna build a Wonderwall
You're my Wonderwall .....

Well, Dubya came to power in 2001 Ankers (16 years ago) and by 2003 had managed to drag us into the Iraq War with Blair's enthusiastic help.
Not sure how you missed it all even if you weren't interested in politics.

trisher Fri 20-Jan-17 17:10:05

Maybe he was foretelling the future
A political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your Commander-in-Chief.

MawBroon Fri 20-Jan-17 17:08:49

Surely not just in Woking? grin

Marmark1 Fri 20-Jan-17 17:06:47

Ok,where was I when all the good things happened,in the last years all I've seen is wars, unemployment,NHS crisis, schools with long waiting lists, police ignoring you unless it's a murder or a racial issue, the rich getting a bleddy site richer, the African people still starving, none of the presidents or prime ministers have solved anything.
So the people, that's me,are asking for help, what's wrong with that,or don't we matter because we're just the Woking class.

Jalima Fri 20-Jan-17 16:49:02

Thanks MawBroon grin

I like this one:
Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better.

Did someone say he had never had a passport until he became President?

Araabra Fri 20-Jan-17 16:44:05

Such an idiot warmonger. Dreadful little man.

Ankers Fri 20-Jan-17 16:43:28

There are some howlers in there! grin

MawBroon Fri 20-Jan-17 16:38:25

www.dubyaspeak.com/best

If anybody feels the need for a smile today. (Remember "Do not misunderestimate me" grin )

Ankers Fri 20-Jan-17 16:37:51

Not sure how I missed it, in more ways than one.

I am though a lot younger than most grans on here, and cant say I was very interested in politics, even 20 years ago. And certainly not american politics.

M0nica Fri 20-Jan-17 16:27:30

I have just typed Dubya, nothing else, into google and all but one of the entries on the first page refer to George W Bush.

He was widely called that in all the media, broadcast, online and print.

Ana Fri 20-Jan-17 16:17:00

Perhaps you have a different Google to me Ankers mine brings up pages if I type in 'Dubya'

Same here, Jalima. How strange that there should apparently be different Googles!

Araabra Fri 20-Jan-17 16:13:38

(First Page) Urban Dictionary: "Slang term for the most inept president the United States has ever had.
George "Dubya" Bush
Did you know that the stock market dropped again today because Dubya made a speech? "

Araabra Fri 20-Jan-17 16:10:30

G. Bush Sr. was POTUS 1989 to 1983. Not sure where 1981 to 1989 enters, that was dreadful Reagan's reign.

Jalima Fri 20-Jan-17 16:09:29

Ankers Fri 20-Jan-17 16:06:04

Thanks to everyone that has replied.

No, never heard of it.
Google hasnt either by the looks of it!!

Araabra Fri 20-Jan-17 16:05:36

The cold war would have ended without Reagan, had run it's course. He was a womanizer, the country was run by his staff and advisors as his brain was gone.

Jalima Fri 20-Jan-17 16:01:54

dreadful Reagan
Perastroika (spelling?) was surely better than the Cold War?

M0nica Fri 20-Jan-17 16:01:24

Ankers, Dubya refers to George W Bush (President of the USA, 2001-090 as distinct from George Bush Senior, his father, who was President of the USA (1981-89) Dubya is an elision of double u. It was easier to refer to him as Dubya than keep saying George W Bush.

Jalima Fri 20-Jan-17 15:56:46

Enlish?

English!

Jalima Fri 20-Jan-17 15:56:28

George Walker Bush Ankers

George Junior, not his father George Herbert Walker Bush

W = Dubya in some American Enlish
