Snowed in!!

Better off staying right where you today Craftycat its fine here in West London even though they said heavy snow and ice this morning we had a bit last night and then it disappeared by 9pm. This morning its windy and cold but we just did a supermarket shop ok.
Enjoy the day and tell DH that he knows where the kettle is and while he's there you wouldn't say no

There is a smattering of snow her today; but this evening I have to drive into the Welsh hills to sing and it is likely to be a bit slippy.

I dont remember people complaining about the weather in the past,we expected Snow ,high winds and rain and just got on with it .Maybe when less families had cars we had no option but to walk ,,so we did .There is always the choice o f having supermarkets deliver your shopping

I'm making the most of it. Still in my pyjamas. Watching television and eating left over Christmas chocolate. Online shopping. I may watch one of my box sets later while still in pyjamas. Grandson coming tomorrow so making the most of today.

I have been to work this morning, but only because my lovely, lovely DIL picked me up in her 4 x 4 - side roads around here are treacherous - no way what I have attempted the drive in my little car

We've just returned from Tesco. It's all clear here, we had sleet earlier now
D had treacherous drive home early evening yesterday. M2 was down to 15 mph.

I live in Scotland and our road isn't snow-ploughed as it's a dead-end. We don't have much snow in general today but our road has a nice icy layer on it.

In previous winters, we've just parked our car by the main road at the bottom and 'yomped' up and down the hill as required.

I would love some snow, but here in south Oxfordshire, except for 2 flakes around 9.30 this morning when I went to put some rubbish in the bin, we haven't got any.

Yesterday we had snow,hail, sun,high winds, thunder and lightning.Today its sunny, windy and bitterly cold, the gritters have been through every couple of hours but the paths are lethal.Life just continues here up in hills of S.W.Scotland

We re under big flood alert expecting a surge in about an hour people evacuated sandbags in place buses and trains stopped bridges closed just a wait and see game I m half a minute walk from the sea but there's a cliff between us not a very big cliff but hopefully enough

We had a flood alert yesterday for our local stream, which did flood a lot of the village in in the exceptional rain event in 2007, but the stream is only about 10 miles long and, although we did have some rain yesterday, it was light and intermittent. I crossed the stream this morning and it was at its usual year round level.

I do worry that the excessive caution shown by the Environment Agency now in constantly issuing flood warnings when the risks are very slight, may lull people into a sense of security, they will have had so many warnings when there was no problem that when there is a real danger they will not evacuate because they do not believe the risk is real. A case of the boy who kept calling wolf.

For Gransnetters along the coast. I do hope the night passes without incident and that the morning sees you and your homes safe and undamaged.

All passed without incident thank you for asking...our new million of pounds sea defences did their work and the worst was a new wall ( from the last flood 3 years ago when we were badly harmed) was broken
Today sounds calm I looked out the window and no snow so back to normal I hope x

Monica in 2013 we had a really bad time lots of homes lost , businesses spoiled , our prom broken to bits in places I think they are determined to never have that happen again so they are much more cautious and on the ball with evacuation and with loads of barriers etc it may seem excessive but if it stops the destruction then it's worth it
