I suppose there's loads of things but a few that come to mind are...being full of energy with no aches and pains. Being able to look in a mirror and being pleased with how i looked. Sleeping soundly all through the night.....How i took those things for granted.
What do you all miss?

I miss the sixties when I was a teen so much fun and loved the clothes.

Just the people; Mum, Dad, Aunts and Uncles and my beloved Nanny - I'd so love them to be able to see my grown children, meet their partners and most of all their gorgeous children.
I don't miss ice inside the windows - and even on the blankets in really cold weather, toilet in the yard, tin bath in the kitchen, filthy smokey air, Mum running out of money before the end of the week and wondering how to feed us all.
Yes I'm overweight now but I could do something about that if I really wanted to, I've always slept like a log and still do, I couldn't run for a bus but I rarely have to. I haven't got as much future as I have past now it's true but I'm too old to have died young.
Not sure what's ahead but try not to worry about that and just make the best of each day as I don't know which one will be my last wine

Rice Cremola. It was a sort of cross between ground rice and custard, lovely. My sister and I both adored it. And used to argue over who got the skin. I tried a DIY version mixing ground rice and custard, but it just wasn't the same! I think the company folded or something.

DH, DM and, on the frivolous side, Hartnell's 'in love' perfume. Mmmmmmmm......... I'm not at all unhappy now but those omissions are regularly painful

Sleeping through the night and not waking
No aches and pains
Giggling all the time
Dancing for hours without having to sit and rest
Parents taking care of me
My family... grandparents, aunts and uncles
all being together and having fun
My neighborhood with tons of children

Well, you can't miss what you didn't ever have, but I would have liked a Twiggy style physique, to to fit into a DollyRocker dress, and straight teeth.
I miss my Dad and my brother.

Being young and totally irresponsible ...spending one summer in Crete in a tiny house with no roof and a goat herd inn the 'garden' ....having no money but loving life ! Living in Paris for a year investigating the alleyways and way of life of a student ...digs in an ancient hotel in Rue Vavin near to Bld St Michell ....doing the 60's hippy things at art school ...ban the bomb marches (not sure banning it was a good idea now !) ..dying my naturally blondeish hair a very dark brown ...getting my mum to knit me some knee length sweaters ...being a 'Mod' ...I could go on ....What I want to know is, can I stop being responsible now I shall be 70 this year and want to wear a red hat with a purple coat that doesn't 'go' and rattle a walking stick along the railings (as per that poem)

I find the song that goes 'We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun, but the joy and the fun and the seasons are all gone together we climbed hills and trees, skinned our hearts and skinned our knees, learned our maths and abc's.....c'est la vie !

I had a fantastic childhood with lots of love and fun which set me up for life. Worked hard to do the same for my children which so far seems to be appreciated. Not complacent but thankful.

So miss the admiring glances everywhere I went, and having he pick of the boys! Shallow? So what .... I bloody loved it! Getting old sucks - but the alternative sucks even more ...

harrysgran Wed 04-Jan-17 10:09:37

Being able to eat what I liked and stay slim, dark hair with no grey, coming home to a meal cooked by my mam and listening to the top twenty in my bedroom on a Sunday evening.

Well Far North, I suspect there are many who hated their childhood, like myself and wish that the support networks in place today were available then.

My beautiful children. They are now beautiful adults but it's not the same.

Judthepud2 Wed 04-Jan-17 09:58:24

My lovely mum and dad and the feeling of being important to them.
Carefree life unencumbered by worries and responsibilities.
Being able to fall asleep and stay that way.
Waking up every morning full of energy and enthusiasm for life.

The problem is, even nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Icyalittle Wed 04-Jan-17 09:52:34

I miss
+ being able to sleep
+ being able to travel somewhere special and know when I left that I could always return in the future
+ being able to diet for two days and be back at the weight I wanted (now it takes weeks of deprivation)!

grannypiper Wed 04-Jan-17 09:01:15

rosesarered i loved pink custard. Do you remember the boxes of custard powder that had 5 different flavours inside, think they were made by Brown & Poulson, they were just the best.

carerof123 Wed 04-Jan-17 08:15:37

Definitely miss the way i could sleep up to 12 hours if allowed to.

Also the plumpness of my skin, i hate the way it has become thin and dry since the menopause, i miss the thickness of my hair too, i try only to brush it once a day now due to the amount which comes out on the hairbrush!!!!!

Having perfect teeth with none missing and no fillings, and most of all i miss my mum and dad and the family life we had.

Rinouchka Tue 03-Jan-17 19:25:47

I only miss people, nothing else from my youth. It's taken decades to become the person I am and this final product seems so much better to me, wrinkles, faults and all.

KatyK Tue 03-Jan-17 19:08:51

Nothing from my grim childhood. However I loved being in my 20s when my DD was small. I was tall and slim and loved buying all the pretty clothes tha were around in he '70s. Getting chatted up and whistled at. It's all gone downhill somehow. Hey ho.

Indinana Tue 03-Jan-17 17:00:46

Being able to read without glasses. Come to that, being able to do anything without glasses sad

gettingonabit Tue 03-Jan-17 16:52:09

A sense of belonging to the community. I miss it more the older I get.....sad

ninathenana Tue 03-Jan-17 16:29:00

I've never looked in the mirror and been pleased with what I see. (over weight all my life to one degree or another)
I do miss bouncing out of bed in the morning and being able to sit or lie on the floor.

NanKate Tue 03-Jan-17 16:13:36

Carefree days playing in our small garden in Birmingham whilst my dear Mum baked and cooked and my fun Dad mowed the lawn.

I get far too many morbid thoughts now which I hate. As soon as this horrid cough and cold leaves me I am going to become optimistic again smile

Bellasnana Tue 03-Jan-17 16:00:47

GGMk2 I live in Malta and they still fill your petrol tank for you as well as putting air in your tyres. I haven't 'done it myself' since 1981 grin
