Sometimes stress can trigger sleepwalking incidents. Are you under more than usual sunseeker?

vampirequeen Mon 02-Jan-17 09:24:48

Wow that was an amazing sleepwalking episode. I've never left the house.

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-17 09:07:22

sunseeker please forgive me for my flippant response to your post. I used to sleepwalk as a child and it caused my mother much anxiety.

I have sleptwalked too absent, but nothing on your scale! shock

Ankers Mon 02-Jan-17 05:47:57

no. 1 seems likely to me.
Have you sleptwalked before? Is it a family thing at all?
Are you a bit rattled by something?

I once went sleep walking on a local common and woke up, stark naked, under a tree. It was quite a problem to get back home as I had to cross a road that was very busy even at night. Dear God, I must have crossed the damn thing when I was asleep on my way there. I did get home safely and I had carefully left the front door propped open. There was a very confused cat waiting for me. The only worse thing that could have happened would have been to have walked home while still asleep and woken up in the morning with muddy feet.

I often wake up with scratches and as vampirequeen says (good name) they can be quite red I did only yesterday morning, having three big scratches on my chest
I often wake up to lights on when I am convinced I turned them off and there's only me in the house I also left a tap dripping all night the other night and I m always very careful about turning them right off
So I think we all do things in our sleep and think we have done what we haven't I ve become a big checker in older age too

It's the line of three scratches that would worry me.

vampirequeen Sun 01-Jan-17 22:56:01

I scratch myself when I'm asleep and don't wake up even though some of the scratches are quite deep so must have hurt when I did them.

I would do what Elegran says sunseeker we often find the lounge lights on and are sure we switched them off ( but obviously didn't.) You scratched yourself during a dream, so cut your nails very short.
If really odd things continue happening, consider having a cctv type monitor in lounge and bedroom ( you can get it set up for you) but only if more than this occurs.
Christmas and New Year can be a stressful time when you live alone.
When you are ready to go to bed, go round switching off the lights and locking doors and say out loud, I am switching this light off ( the only way to insure that you have done it, rather than mean to do it.)

If it were Aliens, sunseeker, I'd think about going. We're making such a bloody mess of the earth that maybe wherever they live can't be all that bad!

Elegran Sun 01-Jan-17 12:58:07

Hmmm. Nothing missing? I would get the house wiring checked by a competent electrician and get bolts on the doors and windows. And file my fingernails smoother. Maybe do something different with the alarm?

sunseeker Sun 01-Jan-17 12:47:29

No pets Elegran

Elegran Sun 01-Jan-17 12:46:02

Do you have a cat?

sunseeker Sun 01-Jan-17 12:43:54

Something weird is going on! Christmas Eve morning I got up to find the lights in my sitting room on, when I went to bed that night I double checked the lights were off but when I got up Christmas morning they were on! Boxing Day morning a set of lights which I rarely use were on. I did wonder if perhaps I have taken to sleep walking in my old age (!) but discounted that because the alarm rings if there is movement on the ground floor and shows a read out of where the alarm has been tripped. This morning I woke up to find 3 deep scratches on the back of my hand.

I have three theories, 1. I am sleepwalking and resetting the alarm in my sleep, 2. I have a ghost 3. Aliens are trying to abduct me and I am fighting back (hence the scratches!)
