Thank you eGJ
We can safely say a 'Gransnetter' has received a New Year Honour.

That is how I knew it was a quote - if it had been your own words it would have been mumsnet who were the "and Mumsnet" !

KatyK Sat 31-Dec-16 10:31:41

I'm pleased about Ray Davies. Another Kinks fan here. We still go to see Ray when he tours and he's stil great. smile

Sorry "elegran" just copied the words. I agree, foot stamping all round grin

Elegran Sat 31-Dec-16 10:22:35

All that about Mumsnet in your quote but Gransnet only mentioned as an "and". We should be stamping our little feet!

Justine Roberts is the founder and CEO of websites Mumsnet and Gransnet, which are discussion forums for mothers and grandmothers respectively.

Roberts founded Mumsnet in 2000, and it has grown to have over 9.4 million unique visitors per month and 91 million page views. The site's popularity has made it a go-to destination for celebrities and politicians looking to do online Q&A sessions. Mumsnet has hosted interviews with David Cameron, Gordon Brown, and Jamie Oliver, amongst others. It became so popular amongst politicians that the 2010 election was dubbed "The Mumsnet election" by The Times.

Roberts receives a CBE for services to the economy.

Ah yes, I know the words to that song, I cannot put a face to the voice. I spent my youth educated in a convent boarding school and any songs I heard were in Latin and sung in church!

bellsisabelle Sat 31-Dec-16 09:45:23

Where did you spend your youth charleygirl? grin

Justine just might be the owner of this website. grin (and Mumsnet)

Anya Sat 31-Dec-16 09:24:09

Lead singer of the Kinks and a prolific and talented song writer.

Charleygirl Sat 31-Dec-16 09:20:20

Sorry but who is Ray Davies?

Falconbird Sat 31-Dec-16 09:06:09

I was so pleased that Ray Davies is now Sir Ray. I bought my first ever record "You really Got Me Now" and played it over and over again on my Dansette Record Player. smile His music has been the soundtrack to my life.

Jane10 Sat 31-Dec-16 08:24:46

Justine who and what for?

harrigran Sat 31-Dec-16 08:15:25

No but more than one in the family would be greedy.

eGJ Sat 31-Dec-16 07:39:58

Congratulations to Justine!

Pas moi! But then what would it be for? Silly question – lots of honours are not for anything special at all. They might as well give one to my cat.

Anya Sat 31-Dec-16 07:03:45

I couldn't possibly say as that would blow my cover be a breach of confidentiality wink

Jane10 Sat 31-Dec-16 06:50:25

I seem to have been passed over (as usual). I can't understand it grin!

Do we have any GNers on the New Year Honours list?
