Our Queen

Are not people overlooking the fact that at 90 the Queen may not want to be surrounded by excited noisy energetic children? My Mother is 91 and loves her great grandchildren but can only manage to be around them for a couple of hours.

Or doubt something because it's not what you want to hear

Is that where you read it skullduggery if you know it comes from the DM?
Perhaps I have inside knowledge

Or doubt what a person says because it doesn't fit with what the press claims

Well, don't know where I heard the guff as I rarely read any papers - certainly not just before Christmas (who finds the time?)

We can only assume,or sometimes believe what we want to believe.
I wouldn't have thought William would say anything publicly that would show the family in a bad light.

Is William is a liar ? He said himself the Middletons gave him a family life

It's a well known fact that William enjoys being with his in-laws.

I so disagree, among the family with queenie were Ann, husband, son and family, Edward, .Sophie and children, Andrew and daughters, Charles, Camilla and Harry, Sarah Armstrong and family , possibly David Lynley and family . They were no different to millions of families , why should queenie object, if she did she would be a most unpleasant and demanding grandmother . I am sure those two small children are very close to their maternal grandparents and enjoyed being with them. Thank heaven the windsors are very slowly shaking off Victorian tradition

I think too many of you are swallowing the guff in the Daily Fail, going by the rubbish spouted on here about the Middletons.

I read that explanation as well Jalima but I didn't think it made much sense. After all, Pippa's fiancé appeared to be with them at the church so what difference will it make when they are married next year. This explanation that they are alternating which family to spend Christmas with makes no sense to me either. I understood that Kate's parents and siblings spent last Christmas with them at Anmer Hall, leaving them free to attend lunch with the Queen and the rest of the time with her family, which seems like a good compromise to me.

I must be the only one on here who felt they were unfair to spend Christmas away from the Queen - after all, the arrangements were made well before she contracted an illness. As well as which, didn't she give them Anmer Hall so they could be near to her whilst having a proper family home of their own. And yes I know the arrangements are said to have had the Queen's blessing but what was she supposed to do, throw a public tantrum? Not really her style is it?

I think it's really sad that William and Kate couldn't have included HM and the D of E in their Christmas plans, particularly in her 90th birthday year. William is not just any member of the royal family, he is in the direct line of succession and I feel he should act accordingly.

I agree he looks sweet but I still think that he is dressed in a very old fashioned manner.

Knee length socks and garters when the rib at the top of the socks stretched .

I think George looked sweet and thank heaven they are not dressing him to suit fashion

By 'status,' I meant that tradition
Boys always wore short trousers until the age of about 14 when my DB were young, nothing to do with status.
I can remember them moaning about chapped knees in the winter!
There were no such things as tights or trousers for girls either, skirts for girls, shorts for boys, with knee-length socks.

I thought this was the last Christmas the Middletons could celebrate Christmas all together before Pippa got married (or so I read somewhere). Anyway, they probably wanted the children to have a relaxed and fun Christmas, not a more formal one and they wanted to spend time with their children on Christmas Day instead of an hour with the nannies bringing them clean and well-behaved in the afternoon.

I am nearly 20 years younger than HM and this virus floored me and is taking its time going; I feel sorry for her whatever wonderful medical help she is having and I must say that DH had an immediate appointment and treatment for his chest infection even though he is not royal.

I didn't see George's coat but I always think the children look very nicely dressed - presumably they can wear more casual clothes when away from the cameras.

Oh dear, poor Zara and Mike Tindall, that is very sad. Many of us can feel empathy for them.
