And now they are leaving their country pile after the millions spent on it. I suppose it will be there for the odd weekend.

It is extraordinary how worked up we all get about the Royal Family. And I'm just the same. I've been worried about the Queen and Prince Philip ever since it was announced they had "heavy colds".

I think this is because many of us think of them as our proxy-parents. People of my age (70) thought our parents were immortal - until they died. Then there was a dreadful gap. Of course the Queen and Prince Philip won't live forever, but while they are still with us let's just be grateful for their huge contribution to the stability of our country.

I don't really mind what Royal littles wear. I just wish all children were fed and adequately clothed, not shivering in refugee camps.

It could also be that her great grandchildren are spending Xmas Day with their maternal grandparents. Perhaps the spin doctors in the CC advised "Granny" that the public may wonder why maternal grandparents were not invited to other, large family gathering and a good excuse was needed.

Inlaws are never invited to Windsor family gatherings ,they make an appearance on the balcony on the wedding day then vanish

Why is any of this any of our business? particularly how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge choose to dress their children!! Frankly I'm just not interested in or have an opinion about the minutiae of their domestic arrangements.

Children really don't feel the cold as much as we think they do, my GDs often complain about being 'boiling hot' if made to wear leggings or a woolly hat!
