Tears for those no longer with me but grateful that they once were.

And, so glad we can share this Gransnetting......lucky us.

So to whoever makes it happen THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Keeping the tears at bay because I may drown if I let go! A lovely member of my family is suffering and just now it's hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but I tell myself that where there's life there's hope and I press on with a smile on my face.
In the wee sma' hours though.......sad

Sending lots of love to all who are having a bad time at this time of year.

And to those on their own.

Just remember that GN is never closed. Help and support is always available.

Try to do something nice for yourself and remember to think to the future and make this time next year different in a good way. X

Thank you Greenfinch. I know we will have phone calls tomorrow and a FaceTime or Viber chat to Australia, just feeling a bit sorry for myself. Would be lovely to give her a hug. I do see the others fairly regularly but miss the family Christmas times we used to have. Had this cough/cold virus too, first year I've had the flu and pneumonia jabs, other years I've been fine!

Greenfinch Sat 24-Dec-16 21:42:54

You have every reason to be sad Suzan05.You need someone to put you first.I hope things will improve for you in 2017.

Feeling sad too. Youngest daughter and partner live in Australia. Not seeing my two sons and other daughter, they all have other places to be. I have two grandchildren too.
Husband not speaking as I discovered a while ago that he's been in touch since September with ex girlfriend from when young. Seen messages they've written including a song he's written and recorded for her called "our song". Won't stop contact even though I've asked him to and insists he's done nothing wrong. His parents have rung and blamed me as I go to look after my grandson once a month. I'm supposed to put my husband first and "show him some consideration". No idea what to do, not a very happy time this year.

Hugs for everyone. No family left. Lucky to be with my friend tomorrow. Feel sad as new neighbours have children strange we exchanged cards when they moved in last year but not this year my other neighbour is in Inverness with her daughter.

Sad yes. First Christmas ever without Ds and then his family. They are on the other side of the country.

Bellasnana Sat 24-Dec-16 17:33:23

(((Hugs))) from me too. I ought to be sad but I am just counting myself so lucky to have had the people I've had in my life and to have been so loved by them. Yes, I miss them beyond words, but, strangely enough, I'm not feeling sad.

For all who are feeling sad and lonely flowers and warm thoughts.

My counter part Gran slowly fading away in hospital. My youngest grandson who has many allergies filched some chocolates this morning which had nuts and coconut in them, so I have been in charge of the sick bucket all day hmm which has been in regular use, fortunately he is now improving and chuffing down dry Rice Krispies.

On the up side as we speak DH and myself are in reasonably good health and just happy to help my DS and family this Christmas when they really need us.

((Hugs)) to all those who are sad this holiday season. Isn't it great though that we can share our thoughts good and bad here on GN ?

BlueBelle Sat 24-Dec-16 16:17:26

I lay in bed this morning and listened to Luther Vandross singing ' Dance with my Father' and ended up sobbing my heart out ..... so no your not alone at all ?

My love to everyone on here it's not always about being alone sometimes you can be very lonely in the middle of a crowd

Love and care xx?

annsixty Sat 24-Dec-16 14:16:07

The past is another country. We must learn to live and try to adjust to the one we live in now, here in the present. Not easy but it is what we have.

Mumsy Sat 24-Dec-16 13:57:40

Oh such an emotional time when all the feelings get muddled, the last 5 years Ive spent on my own and its just been another day for me and Ive coped ok
( estrangement from family their choice not mine) this year I offered an olive branch I sent xmas cards and got none back, on top of that Ive been very ill with a virus this past week and still not recovered so Im feeling very sorry for myself sitting here remembering christmas pasts ?
