Ooops having a Christmas eve weep....missing people no longer with us.Christmas songs making me sad....Sooooo missing son&grandchildren in Australia.Daughter in Dubai...will see her in 3wks tho for birth of our new babe!! Self kick up the behind now.....anyone else get emotional??
(My third Christmas without OH, btw, and I think it's the worst - so I do know of wot I speak!
)
What a shame that a simple seasonal good wish has to be picked apart - so we can't all feel merry, or even happy, but surely it's the thought that counts!
NellieMoser........ think I'm guilty of wishing 'Merry' Christmas. Will do my level best to amend that to 'Happy'. You make a good point. Thank you.
Hugs to all of you who have family living away my son in Oz
Also those we have lost
We do have presious memories that cannot be taken away
This is a emotional time of the year and I do think TV ads do makes us feel a little envious of those large family gathering
Thinking of you and your family NanKate. I lost my sister earlier this year at the age of 70 and so this Christmas makes me feel very emotional and I know her husband, children and grand-children will have had a sad day. ?? to all who are feeling low.
Sitting
As I have mentioned on other threads my counter part Gran is in hospital in her last hours/days. We have tried successfully to give our two grandsons a lovely Xmas whilst supporting our DS and DinL who has spent half her Xmas siting with her mum and dad in hospital. We are ALL going to the hospital tomorrow if she us still with us to say our final goodbyes to a good, kind woman, who a week ago asked the doctor to make her better as she wasn't ready to go. She is only 70 to young to die. I want to weep with sadness. Tomorrow will be difficult for us all. Please think of us and those of you who believe, a few prayers would be welcome, and those of you who don't please keep our two families in your thoughts.
Hugs to other sad families on GN.
Enjoy the rest of your Xmas folks.
Well after my weepy Chriistmas eve....have had a wonderful day today.family.love.presents etc..so just now counting my blessings✨ and ((((((hugs)))))) to you all on gransnet.sooo glad I am one of you!!! ?xx
I really get so sad at xmas. But i have family who do their own thing. I am on a second marraige and we sit alone. And my husband had big Cancer op on 1st Sept. I meet my grown up children on a Boxing day plus 1 Grandson. So no fun at xmas.
Thinking of you.
Why is it it's impossible to please everyone. I love all my daughters they're hubbies and all the grandchildren but it never seems enough. Someone always feels that someone else is getting more attention than they should. I think I might go away next year.
To all those like me alone but not alone ....if you understand ! Madgrandma ....never give up hope ! Here I am having had colo rectal cancer in 2007, two lots of secondaries on liver ,,last op in 2011 ! Still here ...having porta cath for chemo taken out in January !! 6 years after last all clear ...so I wish for your husband the same recovery ,,,,,and for you, as they say here, Bon courage !
Thinking of all in similar circumstances ,,,the sun will come out tomorrow .......
Yes..thinking about those close to us that aren't here and those that are no longer with us. Being grateful what I have now, this moment. GN help me to understand we aren't alone. In our" aloness" we are all connected! Christmas Greetings.
Silly things get at you in these situations.
OH had not bothered to get put of bed by 10 so I walked along an attractive disused railway track which is very close to home.
I was on my own at first, then passed a few dog walkers, then there were the groups of adult families and friends all out for a jolly Christmas morning walk, or at least that is what I tend to imagine. As my OH is really not very sociable I know I will never get that.
I don't like people wishing me a "Merry Christmas" when I would just be pleased to settle for a "Happy" one.
Love xxx and (((hugs))) to all.
My first Christmas without my dad. Quite weepy . I miss him because he loved Christmas. Big hugs to all of you who need a hug xx
I had myself all geared up to spend today on my own, knowing I will see my DS and his precious family tomorrow. I'd just made a coffee when they arrived bearing gifts! They were on their way to spend today with my DS's dad and called in for a Christmas kiss! Managed to keep the tears away till they'd gone but oh how they flowed as the car pulled away ... I seem to feel much more emotional about everything this year, even though exH left a long time ago. New Year's Eve would have been our 50th wedding anniversary - it seemed a good idea at the time
Although my son is only 200 miles away due to his life style he no longer a active member of the family, choosing to decline all offers of hospitality.
I spoke to my sister this morning she has two healthy and prosperous sons she just spoke about my son in a loving manner, it set me off. This is first year without my eldest granddaughter here (she is with boyfriend and his family). No matter who is with us we miss the ones missing at the table.
How lovely everyone is on GN. Such caring posts amoungst the sadness. I too had a weep last night.. I was supposed to have 10 people for dinner (DH's family) but my DH has man flu, and as my FiL starts chemo on 3rd Jan we decided not to risk it. So I'm crying for the same reasons that I'm sure thousands of other women my age are crying.......
I will miss the chaos and laughs of Christmas dinner with a crowd - even though I moan every year!
I'm on my second marriage so I know I will never sit round the table with my children and their dad - my original family. It also means that my children are pulled in all directions so it's v rare we are all together at Christmas
I only see my DGD on Boxing Day as my son has split from her mum ( she's a DiL from hell!)
Miss my mum dad and sister, (no longer with us) my only blood relations (apart from kids)
I miss my kids being little!
Etc etc etc
It's been so nice to read the posts and share things. Feel better already! got lots of blessing to count so I'm off to have a martini and start cooking the dinner! Merry Christmas to you all. You're not alone with us lot! Xx
So sorry. Sending you big hugs!xx
Missing my D and grandchildren saw them on FT last night on a very hot Melbourne Christmas morning - lots of love to all the gransnetters missing children and grandchildren far away xxx
DH is in hospital and likely to be there for a while yet. Three days ago we saw his surgeon who told us that the operation she did to remove part of his bowel, was bowel cancer. But she is very sure that she removed all the diseased portion, so hopefully he can make a full recovery after this.
DD is working as an HCA and is miles away. All my friends are either with their own family or ill, so I shall spend most of the day alone, but expecting phone calls later. I shall be visiting DH and just feel very grateful that he made it though the operation, while giving thanks to the medical team who are looking after him.
Now excuse me while I run for the tissues!
Every little thing sets me off, sad things, happy things, children, old people, acts of kindness, etc etc. Very lucky will be seeing one daughter and family today then other daughter and family coming to stay on Tuesday.
Love to all you gransnetters, I have loved spending time with you all (in print) this year. I think our generation of women is amazing!
Miss my husband in a crippling fashion but can just see him saying. ' Come on now. Do it for the kids. You know I'm still around.
Feel very blessed to.have a son dil and ddg living local. But Xmas is a sad time too thinking about our two daughters we lost and what might have been...other grandchildren perhaps?? But we don't dwell too much..just a few tears ....happy Christmas everyone x
To all who are feeling emotional.....great big hugs and love to you all!
Xmas is a time of love, so be kind to yourself.....xxxxxxxxxxxxx
