Without wishing to seem mercenary or vulgar 
, I'm interested to know what other people do when giving presents as a couple. I've never really thought about it before, but do single people who give two individual presents to a couple expect a double whammy , or individually given presents from a couple, or just a present regardless of what has been spent? My children give one present from them both to relatives , with each actually buying the present for their own family , but given from them both. That sounds fine to me , but recently when organising a group present , it was suggested that they should both contribute an equal amount ( even though one partner not working)
