We were married in 1959, that Christmas I bought a small plastic doll, dressed her in an off cut from my wedding dress; a tinsel halo and white painted knickers. The paint has since worn off. She has been on top of our tree every year since then and woe betide any one who tries to replace her.

We have a silver star on top with a fairy in front of it.

I have an angel which replaced the fairy dressed by my mother back in the 1960s. I was thinking of getting a star instead. Tree toppers are only £1 in Poundstretcher.

We have a fairy. She's looking a bit worse for wear this year so I think maybe something else next year!

Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty. Well we do and Daphne she's got tinsel on her knickers

We have Father Christmas holding a sack and a small Christmas tree. I can't remember how long we've had him now and I would feel awful about making him redundant although I would like an angel! Maybe next year!

Love the poem Daphne, we have a fairy all gold and shimmery. She has stood the test of time much better than me.

Always the fairy, although I made her a new dress, wings and wand a few years ago.
And I have to fix her head back on every year.
She stands in a tinfoil covered toilet roll centre which keeps her upright (her dress covers it)
Although the needles still get into her knickers grin

A fairy which was a fair haired dolly I dressed myself. These days her dress slips down at the front and shows her bosoms. I do try to hitch it up.

We have an angel she is knocking on a bit now and has definitely seen better days (much like her owners really)

Personally we have a star, but you might enjoy this too tchgrin

Star held on with an elastic band. It's a silver star and looked quite unusual the year we used a red Post Office band, but it was rather nice.

Lit up star on top of ours.

I always have the frightened fairy. At some point in the packing away her hair got stuck straight up from her head and won't lie down. She looks terrified!

We always had a star ( still do.)
