Just seen that the ones listed as "James Bond" have 007 somewhere in the serial number. Hmmmm

There is one for £50,000 on Ebay "printed upside down . . . a top British Bank . . . . said it can be used in the upside down format or simply turned around and used the other way"

And another for £5 million "Rare 5 pound note (not)
Only rich Arabs and Russian billionaires allowed to bid ( also will allow Donald Trump to bid if no one else does)"

its been advertised that 'James Bond' is on some notes as well, mmmmm wonder which James Bond! There are so many £5 for sale on ebay, in the Mirror it said one on ebay was up for sale for £80,000 and theres nothing special about it! Bizarre !

Well, if it is a marketing ploy it is a better one than phoning us every two minutes trying to get us to send them money for fixing a non-existent fault/virus in our computers. It costs us nothing to have a look at the fivers in our purse, and a few people will have one that they can sell for a large amount.

What will all the contacts be sucked into? Looking at their fivers too? Laughing at themselves for hoping they have one of the engraved ones and feeling a bit more cheerful at the thought of the project? You don't have to buy anything to participate, unlike the golden hare book a few years ago, where the book gave cryptic clues to buried treasure somewhere.

It is marketing to the gullible who will "like" and share the link ensuring that their contacts are sucked into the hype. You are being used.

He's not selling the notes and he is world-renowned anyway for his other miniature engravings.

He has managed to get a huge amount of publicity out of this marketing ploy. A bit like the chain letters of yesteryear.........on steroids!

I am not sure what he could be advertising, Esspee - himself as an artist, perhaps? But he is already an established engraver.

I heard that ones with AK47 on sold for huge amounts - and I found I have one! - but when I checked on EBay I didn't see any going for anything more than £4, haha.

Yes, he does very tiny engravings eg on the head of a pin etc

It's not an advertising ploy, this person is an artist who has done similar "art works" before.
The £20k is an estimate based on what previous works of this artist have sold; it may be very conservative!

If they sell for £20K, it doesn't matter whether they are legal tender or not, you'd still make £19,995, but if the artist is arrested, he could regret doing it.
