Unusual presents?

OMG... my toilet lights arrived! It's like 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'. All that is missing is music!

If you leave your bathroom door open (we do as there is no window and I hate that closed bathroom smell), and it's in a high traffic area, position it round the side of the bowl away from the door so it doesn't trigger when passing the entrance.

I love it... and am so grateful to have found this idea. It's cute but very very useful for late night loo-users. Can't wait to see DGD... hope it encourages potty training and can be used on her training seat later.

My OH got me a tea service for an engagement present and a vacuum cleaner for my wedding present! I should have called it off right there and then, but we have been together for half a century now.

I take that back, they are £8 each! Instead I have ordered 5 sticks of Marmite rock for £3.95 as joke presents. Sounds revolting!
Marmite rock

One year I bought a few bars of dark chocolate with a hint of Marmite, which tasted remarkably good! I see they are no longer available, but you can now buy a bar in the shape of a Marmite jar. I shall get a few as stocking fillers.

I think I am to be the grateful receiver of a slab of extra strong cheddar cheese for Christmas (it's the sort that 'bites yer back') and will go down well with that other present - a jar of home made apple chutney - and of course not forgetting the large bottle of scrumpy from dear friend in Somerset. Ana I don't know why, but do think that sometimes people browse stuff and then end up looking at something else so they 'promote' what is a typical browse of a number of customers. It is odd, and sometimes I think it makes mistakes (sometimes humorous) when it's not a true companion item.

Meant to say... the ones at the link I put up are fulfilled by Amazon, so they are 'here' in a 'regional' warehouse'. I got three lots of two and if I did not have prime, would have only had one delivery charge.

I looked up the Illumibowls on Amazon, found the sterling price, plus postage. Thought I might order three together which would mean only one lot of postage, but the price came up as 3 x illumibowls, plus 3 x postage costs. Cheek, so I didn't bother.

but they may still come from outside the UK. I ordered some fiddle cubes from Amazon and discovered they had been dispatched from China - to reach me by January 9th.

I've bought doggy-do bags, as a joke gift for my son who've recently got a new pet dog.!

My SiL bought our newborn baby son a pink smocked dress! She knew he was a boy.

Last year I bought my DH a gift voucher for a day's practical instruction with a blacksmith after seeing an advert in a magazine. He was delighted and made a metal handrail for some outside steps. Completely stuck for ideas this year as that was a flash of inspiration for the man who has everything!

Best presents I ever bought: A hamster in a cage for my dad (He loved it and no hamster was ever looked after as well as that one)

A one off flying lesson for my husband (not sure if he loved it but it was definitely a surprise for him)

We were given a joint present of 'Afternoon Tea' which was really lovely. We were treated with a selection of small sandwiches and an assortment of little cakes of all kinds on one of those china cake stands. All served up from a china tea pot in to matching china cups with saucers. Took me right back to my younger days. A walk around the beautiful garden afterwards completed the gift.

How naive of me - thought the illumbowl thing was something to do with playing crown green at night!! ??

My OH was given a block of wood in a cardboard box. Instructions to walk around it 3 times a day! It was to keep him fit.

I would love any presents that I didn't have to buy for myself ! and I love weird things .....like that illumibowl thingy ...must look it up !

Oh dear, I hate "jokey" presents especially from people whose sense of humour is not necessarily my own!

On a serious note, my BIL has prostate issues, so it up and down all night and for men, aiming in the dark is a big issue. I have a busy bladder sometimes and happy to go in the dark, but this is much more of a friendly idea. My DH is a camel... he only goes before bed and in the morning. (I 'hate' him!)

Note: I did choose one that had the highest rating which comes with batteries and some don't. Makes a diff when gifting.

I think the worst present I ever received was a fan heater from my DH. (He's the practical sort)
