Our local NatWest plays hideous music, really loudly. I really hate going in there, but had promised to pay some money into my son's account.
I was dreading it - but I opened the door and ...silence. I was so excited that for once it was just like a Bank and not Primani!
It made my day.

Just got my car back from the garage with new brake pads and it wasn't too expensive!

Got five cheques this morning from NS&I, that's £250 since I bought the bonds in September! And I was very pleased to get them too!

My cheeky little grandsons, both 3, finally nodded off at 9.30 after six trips up and down the stairs by yours truly carrying a copy of the Riot Act. grin

I went to Christmas lunch with my knitting club and we had had lovely chat and a laugh. I should not have had a large glass of wine over dinner alcohol at lunch time finishes me off.
I had a good doze in the late afternoon then went for a bring a dish evening meal with some other friends.

Well, I didn't get the dog I was after yesterday. sad

However, I've just identified another one, a black Labrador crossed with something smaller, so here we go again! smile

This one is a stray and has been given a name by the rescue centre staff that is very significant to me.

Oh grannyactivist I really hope you are lucky this time and get the dog that you want. We got a puppy 5 years ago even though we knew she would change our life - and change it she has but for the better. We both adore her and can't imagine life without her.

So GOOD LUCK! x

You will get the dog you're meant to have GA.

That's sort of how we ended up with one of ours and I woouldnt change him for anything. At 14 now he's brought so much joy into our lives.

annodomini Thu 15-Dec-16 09:14:52

Sorry you missed out on the first dog - he sounded perfect. However, the second choice sounds lovely , especially as he has Labrador ancestry. Good luck this time and a happy Christmas to you and yours. tchsmile

Not today, but yesterday. I left home in the dark at 6am on my long drive south for Christmas, and saw the sun rising around 8 over the hills of Lockerbie. The cloud formations were like enormous swirly spaceships and the colours were just magical. I had no one to share it with and so wanted to stop and take a photo; bit difficult on the M74 tchgrin

Just had a phone call from my late daughter's partner, sounds as if he is doing all right in spite of everything, cheered me up.

rosesarered Thu 15-Dec-16 14:45:17

That's good Alie ( time that you had some good news.) tchsmile

rosesarered Thu 15-Dec-16 14:48:08

Yes Danni we were getting worried that our party guests would be disturbed during the night or have bad dreams about giant wasps.tchgrin

cornergran Thu 15-Dec-16 21:31:45

Seeing the wonder in a little ones eyes when she saw a Christmas display - and loving it myself.

grannyactivist Thu 15-Dec-16 22:41:09

Thank you, thank you for your good wishes - we got the dog and he is just perfect - the best we've seen. He glued himself to my side and followed me around to such an extent that the kennel assistant joked he must have known me in a previous life. [Does ecstatic happy dance.]

I have to go back to meet him again tomorrow with The Wonderful Man and show our I.D., then we need a visit to check that we have a suitable home for him, then the vet has to give the dog the all clear......and then, finally, we can bring him home. And when we do I shall post a photo of him. tchgrin

I was very saddened to hear the kennel assistant say that at this time of year they get a lot of old dogs handed in because people want to replace them with a new puppy for Christmas. Then in March there's a huge spike in calls from people who bought a dog for Christmas and want to get rid of it because they're too much work!

grannyqueenie Thu 15-Dec-16 22:51:44

Good news on the dog, grannyactivist, enjoy!

DanniRae Fri 16-Dec-16 09:46:32

Oh grannyactivist I am SO PLEASED for you. What a happy ending to your search for a dog. I really look forward to seeing a photo of him. smile

Anya Fri 16-Dec-16 10:29:16

Said you'd get the dog you are meant to have!!

annodomini Fri 16-Dec-16 11:29:29

Delighted for you, GA, and for the dog lucky enough to have you and the WM to care for him.
