Little things that have made you happy today

Impressive service from BT. I'd be hysterical if my trusty YouView system stopped working!!
After we moved here I was very pleased with the help I received from BT in setting the phone and broadband up. The Indian people I seemed to have to contact were exceptionally helpful and always did exactly what they said they'd do. They even called back to check that everything was OK. Its so easy to slag off foreign call centres but definitely not this one. They didn't even pretend to have British names!

Our BT man rang to say that he was local and could come earlier than expected if it was convenient. He was sure he knew what the problem was, replaced the aerial lead from the wall to the box and so far it is working OK. Apparently cables that were OK with pre digital switch over are very poor with digital signals.
So far all is OK, but if it happens again I will replace the cable all the way back to the aerial as I'm sure it is not to the current spec (WF100).
I did check what he said on the net after he had gone, and what he said was confirmed on several sites, all saying that WF100 was the minimum spec.

An unexpected walk in the beach. Always lifts my spirits.

A day with my youngest daughter and her 8month old baby shopping, having coffee out, lunch out and walking along the river. Babysitting tonight so she and hubby could go out. Rare for us as they live abroad. Lovely!

I've had a few items waiting to be mended / adjusted (sewing) for at least a year .
Now I have got them done, and it took very little time!

BT offering to send an engineer out to investigate an intermittent problem with our Bt youview box. TOMORROW ! and at no charge.

When I spoke to the Asian chap this morning one of his first words were, "we can sort that for you". !o minutes later he phoned to arrange time for the engineer.

Trouble is, I'm sure he will want to do a factory reset and that means we will lose all our recordings, but that will also happen if they replace it.

I was on a packed train journey today with rude people. People wouldnt get out of their seats that others had reserved etc.
But I did a little thing which made me happy, i gave up my reserved seat for a young mum holding a little baby with one hand and trying to get a bottle out of her bag with the other hand. Plenty of able bodied much younger passengers than me who could have done the same.

The two young men who gave DH and I their seats on a tube train in London today. Good to know that there are still some gentlemen about.

Borrowed my son's dog today (a JR) and explored the country lanes around my new home. It's a couple of years since my old staffy boy died and I will not have another dog but it was such joy to be out and about with Tui x

Had a lovely walk in the sunshine this afternoon across fields white with frost. I was surprised to see catkins much in evidence - very early surely. No insects to carry the pollen away at this time of year!

Playing my yamaha piano. I picked up the thread on GN about playing again after having given up as a child. I followed the advice and its now standing in the bedroom used my the GCs. I bought the recommended Tutor from amazon and am coming on fine.
The first weeks I suffered from finger, hand and shoulder aches and pains but now the strengthening exercises have worked and I can play for longer.

I love it ! The good thing is that a digi piano can be played quietly and you don't disturb the neighbours or any body near, watching TV: And I am the only one who hears the many mistakes.

Having lunch with a friend today at a nice place to eat

Up and out in time to get Italiano rolls at Tesco's which wasn't open yesterday. They are a special of mine at the moment. I feel all the better for getting out too, although the car boot refused to open, frozen shut when I needed it!

We had a power cut last night. A neighbour called to say a temporary generator would be fitted at 6 am. Delighted to wake up and find the temporary generator arrived at midnight.

Made my day when everyone kept commenting that the lamb we had for Christmas dinner was 'the best they'd ever tasted'

I'd sourced it from a local farm and used the recipe they provided.

We watched 'Oliver' last night. We went to see it on stage in 1965 on our honeymoon. My DS hated the film as he looked very like Mark Lester who played Oliver, and people always commented on it. Happy days

I forgot to say, I watched the Sleigh Ride last night...seen it before but it is so relaxing....

Argh no, get better soon. Sil and bil in Surrey also had to cancel Chrismas with family due to bad colds too.

Although we are ill and having the day on our own, we have had loads of WhatsApp messages and photos of the DC and DGC having a good time! And all being well we will see them all on Tuesday.

Dogs coming back from walk covered with mud- having dug up every mole hill in sight and run around the fields like crazy- and now totally cabbaged on the settee next to me.

Grandkids on Skype telling us what a wonderful time they are having with their other grandparents - share and share alike.

Had a pretty good day, happy with my sister and partner here for Xmas lunch. (It'll never be the same as when my daughter was alive, but it has improved.)

The most wonderful concert of Christmas music and carols at Birmingham's Symphony Hall with the London Mozart players (in costume!) with DD, DH and DGS1 (while SIL and the 2 younger ones enjoyed Room on the Broom at the Rep next door!)
It was sheer heaven and we raised the roof with Hark the Herald Angels. Especially glad DH could make it as he had to have 3 units of blood on Thursday. It was a struggle but so worth while and a lovely start to Christmas.

Simply having both my children and their children all together here today ....and again tomorrow.
