Our local NatWest plays hideous music, really loudly. I really hate going in there, but had promised to pay some money into my son's account.
I was dreading it - but I opened the door and ...silence. I was so excited that for once it was just like a Bank and not Primani!
It made my day.

BT offering to send an engineer out to investigate an intermittent problem with our Bt youview box. TOMORROW ! and at no charge.

When I spoke to the Asian chap this morning one of his first words were, "we can sort that for you". !o minutes later he phoned to arrange time for the engineer.

Trouble is, I'm sure he will want to do a factory reset and that means we will lose all our recordings, but that will also happen if they replace it.

I've had a few items waiting to be mended / adjusted (sewing) for at least a year blush.
Now I have got them done, and it took very little time!

A day with my youngest daughter and her 8month old baby shopping, having coffee out, lunch out and walking along the river. Babysitting tonight so she and hubby could go out. Rare for us as they live abroad. Lovely!

Our BT man rang to say that he was local and could come earlier than expected if it was convenient. He was sure he knew what the problem was, replaced the aerial lead from the wall to the box and so far it is working OK. Apparently cables that were OK with pre digital switch over are very poor with digital signals.
So far all is OK, but if it happens again I will replace the cable all the way back to the aerial as I'm sure it is not to the current spec (WF100).
I did check what he said on the net after he had gone, and what he said was confirmed on several sites, all saying that WF100 was the minimum spec.

Impressive service from BT. I'd be hysterical if my trusty YouView system stopped working!!
After we moved here I was very pleased with the help I received from BT in setting the phone and broadband up. The Indian people I seemed to have to contact were exceptionally helpful and always did exactly what they said they'd do. They even called back to check that everything was OK. Its so easy to slag off foreign call centres but definitely not this one. They didn't even pretend to have British names!

Wobblybits Fri 30-Dec-16 09:56:52

Yes, the Indian guy did phone back to check that all was well.

I do sometimes find their spoken English difficult to understand, so I use live chat instead, their written English is perfect, and I can cut/paste a record of the conversation.

Some people seem to have problems with BT, I have only ever experienced good service from them.

I find BTyouview perfect for our needs, not sure what I could replace it with if we changed.

I slept till late, talked to my aunt on the telephone for an hour. Had boiled egg and jam toast with cup of tea. Sheer bliss all is quiet for now the children are arriving any minute for a sleep over. That has made me really happy today

They have all gone!! I love them all dearly but it has been a struggle as DH and I are recovering from that flipping cold/flu bug. I have a shift in the library this afternoon but then we are doing nothing till Jan 3rd.

And, all they forgot was a pair of light up Frozen shoes!! grin

My oldest friend in Queensland has sent me a lovely scarf in colours yellow to dark red....she always had a good eye for colour combinations.
And - I've just successfully bought a hedge trimmer online and collected it.
AND had a nice phone conversation with a friend, about her Christmas.

When my 5 year old grandson said when I managed to get him and his younger bro a packet of Pomme Bears each (crisps) 'Well done Nanny' .

When he drew me a picture and said 'this is for you because I love you'.

This means a lot as we have had a pretty horrendous Xmas with their other Gran gravely ill and we are awaiting the phone call to say she has died.

KatyK Sat 31-Dec-16 19:00:08

Today my sister popped in which is always nice smile I went next door to see my 88 year old neighbour for a chat as she is on her own. She's not ill or incapacitated, just on her own for a few days. I had a nice little chat with her which made us both happy smile

cornergran Sat 31-Dec-16 19:45:39

A friend I had lost contact with has just sent me a New Year message.

My panettone rose magnificently, apart from a slight sideways sag (baker's droop?). I hope it will fit in the tin!
