Dunkers ( like Blondes) have more fun.

The thought of finding a chocolate sludge at the bottom of my mug of tea is a complete No-No. But hey ho, each to their own and whatever makes you happy then just go for it.

Definitely a dunker although always mad when it sometimes gets too soggy and disappears without a trace! Then you've lost half your biscuit! One daughter dunks like me other daughter never does. Grand children are fascinated but want to use MY tea fo,r the dunking not their own drink

dunking looks disgusting to other people, I hope you all only do it in private (if you feel that you must do it at all). If a visitor started dunking buscuits in my house, I'd probably remove the biscuit tin so they couldn't do it again.

I've heard this argument lots of time and I've heard that Prince William even dunks.

I never fancied dunking at all until one day recently I was visiting a friend. We were having tea and chocolate chip biscuits and my friend told me the biscuits tasted much better dunked, and so they did!

We've always dunked as a family! Best dunkers are rich tea or digestive. I don't dunk chocolate biscuits though as I don't want to have melted chocolate in my tea. UGH! Same applies to cream sandwich biscuits. Do not want an oil slick. That would be revolting. Can't understand why someone said you shouldn't dunk in coffee. It's nice, and as others have said if you have biscotti they need to be dunked as they're so hard.

Has anyone heard of Tim Tams they look like penguins but not quite so dense, you nibble one corner off then the opposite corner at the other end then stuck the tea or coffee up through the biscuit just the once then pop it in your mouth before it disintegrates, so nice I can only manage one

Yes it is common!! But I do it! Don't care what anyone thinks. Bourbon biscuits are the best. I love to dunk a strip of Cote d'Or chocolate lait and just suck.

Not about dunking, but about tea drinking, I remember seeing adults when I was a child, pouring some tea from the teacup into the saucer, and slurping from that! Not my Mother or a relative, perhaps a neighbour (can't remember exactly) but thinking it was probably something that shouldn't really be done.

I'll try dunking any biscuits in my tea or coffee, fig rolls are delicious, Jaffa cakes very nice with milky coffee. Rich tea dunked in tea reminds me of my childhood, 6 children and mum and dad all in/on mum and dad's bed on a Sunday morning with a cup of tea each on a tray in the middle of the bed all dunking a shared pack of Mcvities

I always dunk biscuits in tea or coffee but not in company unless I know them very well! I agree with diggingdoris that there is an art acquired from many years exoerience as to how long to dunk differentvtypes of biscuit! I rarely have soggy bits in the bottom of the cup. I dont think biscuits taste half as good undunked

Like most on here, I am an avid dunker, but only in private - I do feel it might offend some to watch you doing it (as some have said further up thread).

You can't take lessons, though, Anya, just years of practice! But keep a spoon handy!

Dunking is what I do when on my own.

Dunking is an art that is learned over the years. I mean that some biscuits need just a second or two(rich tea fingers) while others need longer(ginger nuts). You learn from your mistakes don't you? Though I've learned to cheat with the RTF by holding two together! I rarely get slop in the bottom of the cup, so I consider myself an expert. I was told that even the Queen dunks! So carry one you dunkers, we are in good company.

Mmmmmmmmmm dunking, one of the few pleasure you don't have to forgo due to arthritis, dentures or poverty............keep on dunking.

Who on earth dictated "dunking" was bad manners? Such diktats are absurd, dunk away...as long as you use your own drink otherwise it would be rude
