I wondered what that tenner was on my account! Forgot we get a government pressy. I think I will buy scratch cards (good suggestion on another thread) and put them alongside the crackers for the family.

I am tempted to send no cards this year . I hate the whole Christmas season with a vengance. Why do we go through this every year ( apart from the reply given to Russell Hearty when he asked a little boy why the inn was full .."' Because it was Christmas " he replied )?
One year I printed out a lttle note stating that we would be cutting down on cards the next year and gave out telephone number and e-mail address . Nobody contaced us by these methods but one person did say it was a good idea. By the way see my my Christmas bonus of a tenner from the government is is . I remember when my old aunts would love to get this bonus now the government do not want to be seen as snatching the cash from the old folk and are afraid to stop it so it continues at this pittance . I will give mine to a good cause .

Have received one but that was also with a 'bread and butter" letter enclosed from an elderly relative who visited for a few days.

A sideways query although perhaps should be a new thread: do you still give cards to people you will see in the Christmas season(i.e. neighbours, friends who live nearby, immediate family with you for the holidays, etc.?).

We are trying to decide whether we will only send cards to those we will not see at all in December/January. Isn't it silly, when we can wish people a Merry Christmas in person, that we also put it in writing on a card?

Also, anyone using emails with photo attachment/ s perhaps in lieu of cards?

I nearly did mine this morning.

We've already received four.

And another thing. If I ever get one of those open round robin things, listing family hols and achievement of kids/grandkids, they are off my list for next year.

My DH does the cards, although I buy them. He has lists and sticky address labels - all laid out on the dining table - and I can't bear it. He loves it, so carry on Macduff. He finalises his delivery about the 20th, I believe.

None yet!

Thinking about writing mine today (note I only said thinking about)?

ninathenana Sun 04-Dec-16 11:44:23

N&G I wouldn't expect to receive any until about the 12th-13th which is probably when I'll post my half dozen. Hand delivered ones are done by H so whenever he remembers smile

Teetime Sun 04-Dec-16 11:30:09

Zero - I'm going to write mine today and post them in the week.

Swanny Sun 04-Dec-16 11:27:46

One, from my milkman - with a note detailing Christmas & New Year delivery dates and what my requirements are for those days!

kittylester Sun 04-Dec-16 11:25:19

2 which arrived on December 1st! I call that good timing.

KatyK Sun 04-Dec-16 11:19:58

Three - all of which came in November

tanith Sun 04-Dec-16 11:08:48

Only a card from the local church inviting us to the Christmas Carol concert.

Greyduster Sun 04-Dec-16 11:07:34

Three. Haven't written any yet!

Mumsy Sun 04-Dec-16 11:03:18

One which is taking pride of place as its from my adorable 2 year old grandson.

Charleygirl Sun 04-Dec-16 10:17:44

I received my two cards at the end of November!

NanaandGrampy Sun 04-Dec-16 10:17:42

I think people who still send cards tend to send them early to avoid the usual delays leading up to Christmas. I've found the closer to Christmas I send the more likely they are to be delayed .

Also , it's a job I like to get out of the way.

Just out of curiousity Nina what date would you think it's more reasonable? Or what date do you send yours ? If any smile .... maybe I need to rethink mine !

Luckygirl Sun 04-Dec-16 10:15:37

Just one so far. I have a pile of cards to send somewhere but they got lost in the move!

ninathenana Sun 04-Dec-16 10:14:34

It's only 4th December and already we have received 4 cards, 5 if you count the one from a well known coach company.
What is it with these people confused
