GN is no more for me. I have no idea why I stuck it for so long. I am sure there are some nice people on here, but every time I log in I see mostly the same old clique, perhaps I should have typed Coven.

Anya and her " cronies" who have not enough brain to be able to articulate something without resorting to profanities.

Elegran who is so terribly bland and boring, yet obviously spends alot of time madly googling an answer to almost every question here to make herself look clever...didn't work Elegran.

DapneBroon " Poetry", is that what it was? I wouldn't give up the day job Daphne!

I do not mix with People like the above in my real life, why on earth would I want to do it here?

Bye Bye. Enjoy your little cyber nit picking. I suspect if I were to read the posts in some months time that not a thing will have changed. YAWN

I think that I will remain in the "bland and boring" kitchenflowers to all.

wot Sat 03-Dec-16 12:51:56

Damn rude. See ya, wouldn't wanna be yer! Is my rude reply Shania ? or whatever you name is

Elegran Sat 03-Dec-16 12:49:42

Thank you, soop, from you that is coals from Newcastle!

DaphneBroon Sat 03-Dec-16 12:42:08

I think I can count as one of "the club" katek smile, but reading the threads over the years I know that however bleak life seems at times, there are others out there who know where I am coming from.
flowers are always appreciated at such times but real cupcake and wine help too!

I haven't been on GN for long and I do contribute occasionally but I love it.Another one with disabled OH and it's has a lot of kind and caring people ,occasionally I may think someone has been a bit unkind but hey ho perhaps they are having a bad day..we all have them. Never been on a forum before but would like to say thank you to all who contribute who make me laugh make me think more, and that its ok to have a moan .I know if I have a problem I don't have to carry it alone. You are all very nice people so don't worry about one persons comment.

soop Sat 03-Dec-16 12:38:13

Elegran You are a lovely lady through and through. flowers

Elegran Sat 03-Dec-16 12:33:19

PS, I post answers from my own knowledge when I can remember any of it. Those are the replies where I often get the details wrong and someone corrects them. Yes, I do google things if I want to find the right information or weigh up more than one version.
(I sometimes wonder about the questions people ask - the answers can often be found with a couple of clicks, so why haven't they had a look themselves? It must be because they want to talk about it as much as they want the answer.)

grannylyn65 Sat 03-Dec-16 12:18:43

Personally have only ever had great support from GN etters smile

Kittye Sat 03-Dec-16 12:17:46

Bye shanma have a nice life?

Elegran Sat 03-Dec-16 12:15:32

I would have missed this whole thread if I hadn't called in on the kitchen for a daily read of the beautifully "bland and boring" supportive posts on there. What a lot Shanma has missed by concentrating on things she doesn't like!

I know exactly why she is cross with me - I pointed out moderately that there was a line between disagreeing with an opinion and rubbishing a poster, and that she had crossed it several times (true). When she stirred the waters she preferred to have angry replies so that she could continue the satisfying exchange of abuse.

I daresay she IS still looking back on here to see the effect her departure has had. No point flouncing out if you can't view it in action replay. Sorry, shanma, but bland and boring it is, and in your eyes will always be. Maybe Twitter or Facebook will provide more excitement.

Katek Sat 03-Dec-16 12:08:26

I admire your magnanimity daphne, but many on this forum live with significant health/personal issues and unwell partners. It does not give anyone the right to be personally abusive to other members. Shanma crossed a line.

DaphneBroon Sat 03-Dec-16 11:57:25

I agree with both of you, in an ideal world we would appreciate what help others may offer, but life ain't always like that. As your DM often shows, kitty, (and apologies, if I am maligning her, don't mean to at all) we don't necessarily mellow with age, and pain and fear can both distort how we interpret, feel and react.
Biting the hand that feeds you is not unique to animals, is it? smile
Anyway, that is giving shanma the benefit of the doubt, in the meantime, unfair on Elegran, Anya and others (but possibly a valid critique of my "odd odes") tchgrin

Luckygirl Sat 03-Dec-16 11:48:25

Indeed Daphne - I live with the same problem of an OH with PD and I can get a bit ratty at times! Gransnet has been an enormous support to me - both directly (supportive comments and helpful ideas) and indirectly (distraction from the daily trials!).

kittylester Sat 03-Dec-16 11:48:04

But, attacking others isn't the way forward as those with problems will testify. Being as open as you can on GN gains lots of help and support.

DaphneBroon Sat 03-Dec-16 11:44:20

It certainly reads like a "middle of the night" rant or indeed cry of despair. Shanma said her husband has PD I think, and that she was dreading her upcoming mammogram, so it is understandable if things are getting on top of her.
Even my lovely Gracie will snarl if I inadvertently hurt her while trying to help so, if you haven't yet turned the picture of GN to the wall or cast the site into the outer darkness, you might reconsider and hold fire for a bit. If posting under your original name bothers you because of your personal remarks, I am sure HQ could advise or help.
Living with fear and a sick DH is a lonely place and IMHO sometimes we need all the help we can get.

Katek Sat 03-Dec-16 11:41:23

Hear hear Marelli! I too have had the pleasure of spending time with Elegran and she is one of the warmest, kindest and most intelligent people I know. You're way outwith what's acceptable Shanma, hope your conscience pricks you someday, but there again I very much doubt you have one. Don't get too lonely up there on Mount Olympus.

thatbags Sat 03-Dec-16 11:30:18

Been listening to a podcast and getting in a tangle with my complicated knitting (now sorted). It occurred to me during this that anyone who could be negative about elegran's posts clearly has no real notion of the person behind them. elegran IS clever. No question about that. She's also a very nice person. The OP has shown ignorance at the very least in her assessment making it look very much like an out of control temper tantrum. I hope shanma is okay.

She's right about Gransnet not changing. Of course it won't. I don't think it ever has. It has always covered the whole gamut of what concerns grandparents and people who are not grandparents but still contribute, and the whole gamut of how they express their concerns and interests.

Luckygirl Sat 03-Dec-16 11:27:22

Well me too jollyg - I thought Gransnet revolved solely around me. grin

jollyg Sat 03-Dec-16 11:22:02

Im very upset that my name is not on the'favoured' list.

Marelli Sat 03-Dec-16 11:18:27

I echo ffinochio's and baubles's posts. I very much value Elegran's friendship. I've been in her company many times and find her very funny, wise and caring. However, being as wise as she is, I'm pretty sure Elegran wouldn't care less about what Shanma thought of her.

NanaandGrampy Sat 03-Dec-16 11:02:50

Loved the poem Daphne !!

Just read the OP to Grampy who looked totally bemused smile

gretel Sat 03-Dec-16 10:55:44

I've joined recently and had lots of lovely replies to my first thread. Forums need a group of members who post all the time otherwise members would stop reading.

Ana Sat 03-Dec-16 10:46:45

I'm sure Shanma isn't bothering to read these posts. She probably deleted her membership straight after posting the OP at just after midnight.

But if it makes people feel better...confused

Linsco56 Sat 03-Dec-16 10:42:14

Well Shanma what an appalling display of uncontrolled behaviour! I'm actually embarrassed on your behalf.

I'm sure your nasty comments will have done absolutely nothing other than to reinforce others opinion of you.

Charleygirl Sat 03-Dec-16 10:39:34

Very well written Daphne but I always love your poems.

shysal I have no evidence, I thought from the style of writing and nastiness that she was an incarnation. Anyway good riddance.
