I do my little bit for people who can't in gratitude for our good fortune.

I reckon that if you include presents for DW DH DS DD DIL SIL GC x 4 , plus Christmas food & drink we easily spend that much.

DH, DSX2, DIL, DGD, Great Nephews and Great Nieces x10 and Step Grandchildren x 5 .....yep, I reckon that's a reasonable estimate!

I've just read that Rubicon products survey estimates that's what people will spend.

We only buy for the children, and Secret Santa for the adults. The Bodach and I will be in Gran Canaria, so don't exchange presents. One gift for my friend, and that's the lot. Nothing like £748.
