What a lovely post, it rekindles lots of memories. I love aprons, or pinafores too (pinnies) we called them and still use them for cooking.
Acid batteries for the radio brought back memories and having to get them recharged.
As for gas mantles, I remember standing on my granny's bed and poking my finger in and watching it crumble , it was of course unlit, I must have been a curious child lol.
My granny's house had an outside toilet, with cut newspaper hanging on a string on the door.
She used to heat a metal flat iron on the fire and it was put on a little stand. think she used soap to make it glide easy. Her washing was done in the dolly tub and with the old scrubbing board, she always used the cubes of blue on her whites.
The old tin bath also comes to mind, she had no bathroom, water had to be boiled to fill it up!
