Do you put your night clothes on early in the evening?

Met up with two friends and partner/husband yesterday and they both apparently get undressed for bed quite early in the evening putting on pjs and dressing gowns and settle down to some TV before going up later.

I don't do this I wait till I stagger up the stairs, usually after falling asleep in the chair for a bit beforehand. Maybe I should try this as they say they like to do it.

No way could I get ready for bed until a few minutes before sleeping
No matter how tired I wait until I am up those stairs before stripping off.

I am an early evening dressing gown and goonie fan. I recently bought a fleecy dressing gown from M&S and it is the most comfy cosy one ever for telly watching.

A cosy dressing gown combats the too cold for pjs theory. I put them on for a final half hour of tv in the evening, with face washed, teeth cleaned, then it is easier to settle to bed

Nightie for me put on when I go to bed, afraid it stays on well into the next morning.

Soon as I get home from work, straight into my nightie and dressing gown (can't wait to get the bra off!).
And if I'm not doing anything on a Sunday I'll wear them all day. But, like NanaandGrampy, I don't sleep in them. I just like to be cosy and comfy for the evening

I have several fleece kaftans which I made myself, and I very often pop one of them on as soon as I know I'm going to be staying in the house for the rest of the day.
I don't possess any nighties or PJs as I sleep 'as nature intended'.

I have a bath in the evening after supper or my feet would be frozen for 24 hours, especially in winter. After this I don my PJ's (joined in his night attire by the DH) and 'chillax'.

Theoddbird Tue 29-Nov-16 10:46:53

I usually put them on when I get home from work. I light the wood burner and settle down. Much more relaxing than my work clothes.

Into PJs once I've had a bath which is about 3pm! Daily! Love them.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 29-Nov-16 10:39:19

Come home from work, put on PJs for the rest of the evening! (Unless people coming round or I'm going out obviously)

Husband - who for years kept saying he didn't get the whole PJ thing - is now a convert and lives in them from the minute he gets in

Flannelette nightlife sounds good to me!! grin
Keep it that way!

Angela1961 Tue 29-Nov-16 10:31:23

Oops nightie not nightlife !

Angela1961 Tue 29-Nov-16 10:30:23

I like to take my day off so to speak, so will often change into warm and cosy when I get home. Could be pjs or a big voluminous flannelette nightlife. Who needs glamour !

Willow3 Tue 29-Nov-16 10:28:50

Yes always like to put PJs on about 9pm and then go and watch some more telly before going up to bed about 11. Have done this for years if staying in at night. Seems to take longer and longer to get ready the older I get putting on creams and oils etc!!

Charleygirl Tue 29-Nov-16 10:26:49

I have a shower usually before I go to bed, but on the odd occasions when I have an early shower I put on my nightdress. I have not worn PJs since I was at school.

wilygran Tue 29-Nov-16 10:24:25

8.05pm every evening if I'm not going out! Primark have a nice line in PJ bottoms that look like track suits & you can pretend you're fit & in training!

maryhoffman37 Tue 29-Nov-16 10:22:45

Nope. Don't wear PJs but put nightie on when I go to bed.

Venus Tue 29-Nov-16 10:21:51

Bath in mornings. PJs as soon as it's dark. My cat is in his cat basket ready for bed then too!

Christinefrance Tue 29-Nov-16 10:18:48

Neither have I NanaandGrampy. I have been unable to get out of a bath for a long time but prefer a shower anyway which is fortunate.
It's not a pretty sight Anya don't think I should inflict it on anyone apart from my long suffering husband

DaphneBroon Tue 29-Nov-16 10:13:37

It reminds of an anecdote, probably apocryphal, but nevertheless understandable of an absent-minded gentleman of a certain age who went upstairs for something leaving his dinner guests at the table. Apparently forgetting why he had gone there, he then proceeded to get into his pyjamas and put himself to bed. smile

Greyduster Tue 29-Nov-16 09:41:52

No usually, and the only time I've stayed in pyjamas all day is when I've been ill. Sometimes when the CH has knocked itself off in the evening and it's getting a bit cool will I fetch a fleecy dressing gown downstairs to stave off the chill before I actually go to bed.

aggie Tue 29-Nov-16 09:26:59

I shower and dress in the am and get down stairs , I am reluctant to brave the stairs again till bed time , so I don't get PJs on till crawling into bed smile

Your morning start sounds just like mine Gagagran, except for the porridge, OH doesn't eat first thing. I also get ready for bed when i retire.

Gagagran Tue 29-Nov-16 08:44:16

I go downstairs in my nightie and dressing gown (is that a goonie Daphne?) to make a cuppa and put some lights on, turn the computers on and check if any VIP emails have come in overnight - well you never know.grin

When DH starts moving around upstairs I put his porridge on in the microwave and retire to the bathroom for my shower and then dressed. It works for us.

I get ready for bed when I retire in the evening and never before.

NanaandGrampy Tue 29-Nov-16 08:33:30

Yup! In fact on some days I don't get out of them .

I don't sleep in them and some are more loungewear than actual pjs. But if I'm not expecting visitors and I'm staying in, why not?

I'm a shower in the morning kind of girl , haven't had a bath in years .
