Met up with two friends and partner/husband yesterday and they both apparently get undressed for bed quite early in the evening putting on pjs and dressing gowns and settle down to some TV before going up later.

I don't do this I wait till I stagger up the stairs, usually after falling asleep in the chair for a bit beforehand. Maybe I should try this as they say they like to do it.

'All that dirt'? grin

Who in their right mind would have a bath at night, then a shower in the morning.

A bath in evening is my preference, then nightie and dressing gown on.

Also, having a bath in evening leaves me feeling clean.
Why take all that dirt to bed and then wash it of in the morning
A lot of folk seem to,prefer a morning shower.
Doesn't make sense to me.

We often have showers at the end of the day and change into Pj's and dressing gowns to watch TV.

It is dark and miserable here just now , I would love to get into PJs but I would probably fall into bed if I did !!

Oh definitely soon as curtains drawn, candles go on and so do my comfys. It's a must in the winter months hardly ever get unexpected visitors so it's ok. Never in the summer tho.

typo or was it Freudian slip, we live alone, but love alone also I guess.............

radicalnan Tue 29-Nov-16 14:48:59

I find a long sleeved lace trimmed thermal top goes well with a nice pair of black (tied with ribbon) PJ trousers, which can be worn all day if I feel like it and I often do. The dog and I have very low standards now we love alone.................

When the clocks change and the nights are drawing in I get into my pjs as soon as possible sometimes around 4 or 5. Its such bliss wearing no bra. But I have been caught out a few times when a friends or my sister popped by for an unexpected visit. Out here in Cambodia I am in heaven as its pj land. Women wear their pjs out shopping and its normsl wear. Children are taken out in the evening in their pjs, already for bed I suppose. With so many lovely pjs these days it seems a shame to hide them away and I did read somewhere that celebs are starting to wear them out for the eveing. So wellies on plus pjs and go out and walk the dog, start a trend.

Now that it's winter, it's deep bubble bath after dinner... then into night-kit (tracky bottoms, fuzzy pullover on top of tee-shire, thick socks), settle down in front of fire for telly or work/study on computer. At 9pm, down to tee and nickers in bed with posh hot chocolate with a shot of brandy or something in it, and my Kindle or a book (usually for study as that sends me off to sleep rather than a page-turner). DH usually follows in from his telly stuff about 10pmish and reads his Little I. (I know, the news is old by then, but he likes to turn the pages and do the Sudoku!)

It depends on our plans for the evening and if we're not expecting visitors or going out then it can be just after sunset! More often than not it's after we have had our evening meal, which is usually before 7 pm so we can relax and enjoy the rest of the evening and then just fall turn off the lights and go to bed. I'm usually asleep by 9 pm anyway!

If I have a shower early evening I put my loungewear on - have got pj's but only wear them if I go away or into Hospital grin

Get dressed when I get up - can't do housework in a dressing gown hmmDon't possess nighties - horrible memories from childhood of waking up with nightie wrapped around my legs grin

Sleep in the nude - get hot & irritable otherwise blush

Soon as get home at teatime
Lock the door and PJ's go on.... Not on summer nights though, I'll be in garden .

P.J.s and dressing gown on at 8p.m. No one comes to us after that. Feel sorry for a friend whose OH is so controlling, she is not allowed to come downstairs in D.Gown. They change at 6 p.m. into smart clothes and indoor shoes for dinner! They also sit at table with candles. Sounds romantic but I much prefer to -slob- relax and unwind. I might add they are both in early eighties!

I usually shower. in morning after breakfast unless I'm going out early
On evening I usually get into pjs around 7pm after a wash . I don't do baths I find I'm warmer in pj and dressing gown.

Kittye Tue 29-Nov-16 13:05:07

If not going out for the evening both DH and I are in our nightwear by 8. Then settle down with glass of wine to watch telly ?

Bijou Tue 29-Nov-16 12:36:21

PUt on nightie and fleece dressing gown after washing up after evening meal to settle down to watching TV until after midnight. Have breakfast before showering and dressing in the morning before my help comes except at the weekend when I get up later. Often wonder why I bother to get dressed on weekends because I don't see anyone.

janeainsworth Tue 29-Nov-16 12:22:56

I don't put my night clothes on early in the evening.
I go out shock
One of the joys of retirement is that not having to go to work in the morning means it doesn't matter if I'm late to bed.

loopylou Tue 29-Nov-16 12:15:13

There's little nicer than a warm bubble bath with a good book, cosy pyjamas and a warm dressing gown then settling down with a milky coffee and some ginger nuts to either watch a good documentary or read a book. Curtains drawn and I'm content.

Grannytwo Tue 29-Nov-16 12:07:54

After we've eaten I change into track suit bottoms and fleece cardigan after taking my bra off! I like to be comfy in the evening to watch tv.

diddy Tue 29-Nov-16 11:51:45

Yes I often do this on winter nights ,but never in the summer

Indinana Tue 29-Nov-16 11:43:57

Like others on here, I quite often put on a pair of fleecy pjs in the evening (I call them my 'twosies' as opposed to the onesies my DD and DS wear! grin), but never sleep in them as I would roast. So it's into a short sleeved cotton jersey nightie for bed.

Craftycat Tue 29-Nov-16 11:42:38

Very often as soon as I pull the curtains. It is nice to snuggle down in the evening in comfy nightshirt & PJ bottoms.I look on them a lounge wear. I have several onesies too- they are kept for very chilly evenings.I have to sleep in the nuddy as I get much too hot otherwise & it wakes me up. Have always slept nude as far as I can remember although I know I had to wear PJs as a child.
Shower every morning & a nice bubbly soaky bath once a week-usually Sundays listening the The Archers & whatever the programme is called that comes on before it or reading.Luckiy I don't drop book or Kindle in the water. OH I shouldn't have said that- I probably will next time!

Marion58 Tue 29-Nov-16 11:35:23

Now we've lost our much loved dog and there is no more dog walking, if it suits my mood I have put on my PJ bottoms at 5.00pm this winter - no-one comes around on spec, so not a problem. Sometimes when I've over eaten, I also like to change into something loose, so that I'm not reminded that once again my diet has failed!

Jalima Tue 29-Nov-16 11:29:47

What if someone calls round unexpectedly?
And you want to invite them in for a cuppa?

Jalima Tue 29-Nov-16 11:28:04

No.
In fact even if I have an early bath or shower because I want to watch a programme later I don't like coming downstairs in my nightclothes.
