Well you asked for it. So here it is.

I'm sure I must have bought her something for birthday or Christmas, but I can't remember when. The nearest I get is collecting things she has ordered from Next or M&S

I very nearly bought the wife's clothes! My ex was only short of a womb, it really wouldn't have surprised me if he said he wanted to be called Shirley! grin

I Only started this thread as a joke as Ann challenged GD's to ask the question, didn't expect serious comments grin

LOL Wobbly that's very funny! My other half has only bought me a couple of things unchecked and both had to go back so he now leaves it up to me or will let me order something online for myself and pay. He is very good at spotting things if I'm looking for something in particular and is usually right - he's quite patient if its for me or gifts for others but hates shopping for himself unless we can get to an outlet store - then he'll stock up for the next six months!

No, except when she was in hospital and needed a top to go round all the wires and tubes. It's difficult enough giving an honest opinion on what she buys. Thankfully, most of what she buys looks fine.

It works both ways. My wife doesn't buy clothes for me but I like her seal of approval. Mostly, it is forthcoming.

I stopped buying MrsPs clothes after I bought her a really pretty pair of knickers, she complained that the crotch hadn't been stitched up properly and I has to take them back. Won't go to Ann Summers again, shoddy workmanship.

The Wonderful Man buys me outdoor type clothes; rash vests for kayaking, waterproof trousers, hiking clothes and last year a (very expensive) Paramo jacket and gilet. Do you spot the intent there? He loves being outdoors and does all he can to make me comfortable when I'm dragged out persuaded to join him. smile

My youngest son and my daughter both buy me clothes and always get it right - they buy me things I wouldn't have chosen myself and are very good judges of what suits me.

An X boyfriend of mine loved shiny stockings and tights, and often bought expensive ones for me as gifts.
One afternoon we were in a hypermarket in Lille and he had wandered off. When I found him he was being admonished by a staff member.
He had opened about 20 packets of very expensive stockings and was checking them for 'shininess'.
A lovely kind, gentle generous man but a little odd at times.
blush We are still friends.

Many many years ago he bought lingerie but that,s it. He helps me choose and likes certain items in shops, but as I said in a previous thread he hates shopping and I buy for both of us

Blimey, perish the thought. He has a good eye for jewellery though tchsmile

In today's DT Teresa May says her H chooses what she wears, It doesn't say if he buys them. She is pictured wearing leather trousers which I personally consider very naff.

My DH missed his calling! He knows exactly what suits me and often buys me things. Latest were two pairs of lovely soft warm leggings in black and navy to go with tunics that I already own.

vampirequeen Mon 28-Nov-16 08:55:54

DH likes shopping much more than I do. I'm very much a go in already knowing what I want, grab, buy leave. He is a rack sorter in that he'll sort his way through rack after rack looking for something nice or a bargain.

I'm with Tanith, it's not happening - ever. Much prefer to shop on my own as my husband hates clothes shopping. I buy his clothes too as he can't be bothered and would live in T shirts and jeans. He is good at being honest and telling me if my bum looks big ! !

Mr C suggests what I might like to wear/buy, looks hurt when he is ignored. He has never bought any clothes as a gift that didn't come with precise details of the item. I do make suggestions about his clothes, have been known to just go and buy something, he then looks surprised when it fits and is actually both comfortable and smart. grin.

My OH used to buy me lingerie. It was of the red skimpy nylon variety. Usually the wrong size. It stayed in the back of the draw unworn then got rid of. Note I said used to buy....

Bellanonna Mon 28-Nov-16 01:52:12

Thanks Eirel grin

Roll On the Floor Laughing, Bellanonna!

Jalima. As DS is too young you are not actually his partner but you could be! Only this weekend his DDs were commenting on her always choosing his clothes. They weren't keen on the burgundy chinos. He explained that left to himself he would never buy new casual clothes, only necessary business suits!

Bellanonna Mon 28-Nov-16 01:23:55

Still don't know what ROFL means.

ninathenana Mon 28-Nov-16 00:18:18

Never.
If I say I'd like PJ s or a top for instance as a present he gets D to shop for him.
He will shop with me and help me choose and happily pay. So I'm not complaining.

Jalima Sun 27-Nov-16 23:00:50

If I didn't buy him some clothes M0nica he would still be wearing things from 30 years ago with holes in them.
In fact it is difficult to get him to throw out holey jumpers.

(I was going to say 50 years ago but they wouldn't fit him now.)

Jalima Sun 27-Nov-16 22:57:59

I am always intrigued when I see men shopping with their wives, handling the fabric, holding things up saying 'this would suit you darling' hmm

DH has usually grumped off to the coffee shop or Waterstones if he will go shopping at all. Sometimes he goes and sits in the car and listens to the radio.
He has bought some nice jewellery sometimes smile
