Jingl knew exactly what she was doing - she baited HQ and dared them to ban her, which they did. I don't think anyone, least of all jingl herself can grumble at that! I am sure she is loving being one of the subjects of this thread!
I find gransnet interesting and at times helpful - I have learned a huge amount about a wide variety of things - we have posters who initiate debate on areas of their interests and thus expand mine, for which I am grateful. We have science links from one poster, political ones from another and it opens my eyes to new ideas. I am all for that.
If someone wants to use the site for some sort of provocation and attention-seeking, then everyone else has the option to ignore this, unless it sabotages a useful and interesting thread just for the hell of it, in which case it is a bit of a pain. Better to just leave the thread for a while and wait for it all to die down.
Cyber-bullying is a well known phenomenon and it is for that reason that I think there should be good manners in the debates, as I do not want to go down that route. Polite does not mean bland. We have got so used to the abysmal quality of politicians' debating style - I think we do better than that.
