I don't want to start yet another thread about scams but on Thursday my friend returned home at lunchtime to find a card through her door to say someone had tried to deliver a parcel and there was over £20 to pay for postage. There was a number to ring which said please have your credit or debit card ready to make this payment when you ring. As her son lives in Australia he thought it was his present.
She rang the number and asked about post marks etc and return address and was told it was the USA and a company name. She still thought maybe he had ordered on line, but left it until she could contact him and he said he had sent his parcel to them personally and paid correct postage. Another scam? £10 or £20 here and there would soon rack up a tidy sum for someone.
