Roadside Assistance/Breakdown cover

As J52 has said it might be worth upgrading to a bank account that provides breakdown cover? We are with Lloyds and get AA covee as part of the package which also includes travel insurance and mobile phone cover.

I re-negotiate with the RAC every year, always get some knocked off. My new car has one years RAC cover, they are charging me just £5 to keep my old account open so that when my free cover runs out I will still have my loyalty discounts etc.

I have AA cover and always ring them up when the renewal arrives say I'm not happy with how much it has gone up in a year and they always reduce it by about a third. When the new quote arrives I pay it and that's it for another year

I have breakdown through my bank account. Which is actually Green Flag.
On the couple of occasions I've needed them, I've been happy with the service

We have RAC cover, as part of a package with our bank. It worked out much cheaper, with some other benefits. I think several banks do similar schemes.

Thanks. I'll ring the AA. DH is reluctant to change to one of the cheaper ones as it's a case of the devil you know.

I find that infuriating. Why can't these companies reward loyalty by offering the lower price in the first place? Certainly anyone who's unable to access comparison sites is penalised, and that simply isn't fair.

I have been with the AA for about thirty years. I have started ringing them up when the quote comes through and say it is too expensive and we re thinking of moving. The last two years they have knocked about ninety pounds off!! Try it Merlot.

After a huge quote from AA I shopped around. I finally accepted a quote from Direct Line. Basically, it was Green Flag. Had to use them recently and was extremely impressed with their service. Can recommend.

Ring the AA and tell them you are leaving and you'll be amazed how the price drops.
