Hidden chocolate

I have hiding places for chocolate. With a female teenager in the house, one needs to; I can't be the only one who ate cooking chocolate in my teens when there was nothing else, and who still got blamed by my younger brothers (the blighters!) for snaffling mum's chocolate even after I'd gone to university. They snaffled my dad's brandy as well; he used to win snooker tournaments and the prizes were often alcoholic but he couldn't drink alcohol while he was on phenobarbitone (sp?) to prevent fits after a brain op. Blighters, as I said. Nice blighters wink

Anyway, where have I hidden that bar of Oreo chocolate? I've decided I don't actually like it and that Minibags can have it after all.

Seldom buy chocolate or cake as DH has no self control and should not eat much of either. I occasionally buy a small bar for myself and keep cake as a treat when I go out for coffee.

I don't buy chocolate when I am trying to lose weight as I am almost incapable of eating a square or two - its the whole bar or nothing and it has to be something lovely like Green and Blacks Almond or Lindt Roasted Hazelnut. There is a secret compartment in my fridge but it doesn't survive there for long. At the moment I'm on the NHS 12 week 1400 calorie plan so no choc at all until Christmas - I'm doing well so far but come Christmas Eve!!!!!!

Don't need to hide it but there must be at least one bar of good quality dark chocolate in my cupboard or I would go mad (I can resist it if it's there but if not - the craving is dreadful) confused

Cheese is another must, have to have some in the fridge, restrict consumption as Diabetic & should only have "small matchbox size piece per day" - not good if you love cheese, I wait several days & then enjoy a large piece grin

Hiding Mini Cheddars & Dreamies from the cat is sad - he knows which cupboard they are in wink

If you freeze your chocolate in small pieces, it will melt in the mouth, so no need to thaw it first.

In my knicker drawer and wardrobe. Have been known to find the odd bar of chocolate I had forgotten about months later. I also hide almond Magnums inside bags of frozen veg in the freezer.

My Mum hid chocolate biscuits in the (seldom used) tumble dryer when I was a greedy teenager. Also chocolate bars under the mattress and in unused handbags in the bottom of the wardrobe. And in pockets of out of season clothes in the wardrobe! And in a bag behind the cleaning products under the sink, because what teenager does unprompted cleaning!!! Ditto ironing basket!

I keep it in a cupboard in the kitchen: my little hoard of Green and Black's ginger and dark choc which I buy in bulk when there is a special offer on. The theory is that it is to last me for a few months. The practice is that that it doesn't blush

Occasionally it is supplemented by Lindt mint chocolate

It is one of my many weaknesses! ?? ?

I don't buy it, far too tempting!

Marmight Sat 12-Nov-16 09:44:29

Not so much chocolate, but biscuits covered in it, preferably ginger Borders..... I hide them from myself in a container on the top shelf of the larder. I need a small step ladder to reach it; doesn't work. At about 4 every afternoon I get the ladder out ..... Bit sad pathetic really

Synonymous: What is there to nibble if not chocolate? hmm

AlieOxon Sat 12-Nov-16 09:33:23

If I buy any, I freeze it! Slows my eating if it has to be thswed. Also cake. Choc bikkies I keep in the fridge, at least they are not in sight.....

Shanma Sat 12-Nov-16 00:12:22

I hide my chocolate in my Tummy grin, safe there lol

Synonymous Sat 12-Nov-16 00:01:06

I keep chocolate in one of my baking ingredients baskets on a shelf in the larder. I know that there are three big bars there because I found them there yesterday when I was looking for something to nibble. Just didn't fancy any so they are still there and as it is out of sight it is generally out of mind. I blame it on being post menopausal as in years past I would never have been able to resist!

My daughter hides her stash in a plastic box in the fridge. The box is labelled "Humus" or anything else the rest of the household doesn't like!

I've had to hide not only chocolate but everything in the cupboard that our 20 month old GD calls the 'puddin' cupboard.

sue1169 Fri 11-Nov-16 19:56:34

Choc no...cheese oh yes?

Juggernaut Fri 11-Nov-16 19:00:47

In this house, chocolate doesn't last long enough to be hiddengrin

Christinefrance Fri 11-Nov-16 17:54:11

Lupatria you took the words from my mouth, chocolate is my only weakness to take a quote from Lark Rise to Candle ford. And then there is gin .......

Lupatria Fri 11-Nov-16 16:31:18

i generally hide chocolate inside me ............. never lasts long enough to find another hiding place. not that i buy chocolate that often you understand.

pollyperkins Fri 11-Nov-16 13:43:34

Not bothered about cheese, but chocolate is different! However I try to restrain/limit myself. I ask DH to hide it from me sometimes. He's not all that keen on it!

DD brought 24 bars of 80% chocolate when she came in the summer. The 24 bars were only part of the haul she had in her cupboard which comes from her Chinese in-laws. Every time they see the boys (7 & 3) they give them a bar each which the boys know to give straight to Mummy. We have no idea why but it is probably that as it is expensive it must be good and as good quality chocolate has not been around that long in China it is a luxury. DD and SiL just wish they would give them the cash instead. The chocolate is by the way the only present they EVER get.
I am slowly getting through it my making Chocolate torte at every opportunity. Any other suggestions gratefully received !!

Ooh that's cruel luckygirl, not to be able to eat chocolate or cheese. I hope life has other compensations for you!

felice Fri 11-Nov-16 13:09:44

No problem with chocolate as I do not like it. My problem is cheese, I wish I could keep it other than in the fridge just so tempting and not helped by having a SIL who is partner in a cheese distribution company. Lovely cheese on tap so to speak.

Luckygirl Fri 11-Nov-16 12:12:28

I cannot eat chocolate because of my migraines - TBH I no longer miss it.

I cannot eat cheese for the same reason - but it is everywhere. Jars of pesto have it in. And don't even think about a ready meal.
