Today I am happy. Sun shining, Elvis on radio, drinking coffee and eating a piece of date and walnut loaf and a good book . Yesterday not so good. How is everyone? Hope it a good day for you all

Shanma Tue 08-Nov-16 23:51:21

should that be bucketfulls?..whatever !

Shanma Tue 08-Nov-16 23:50:46

I have never heard of a Dog being shaved! I wouldn't like to try it on Dougal !! we just brush him alot, I get bucketsful of hair every brush, it all comes out from underneath and is very soft.

If we have a hot summer I take him to the groomer for a belly clip, other than that I trim his feet and legs, and cut his nails.

Ruby Clearly need to be educated but, not being a doggy person, I never realised that dogs needed to be shaved!? confused

#Picks jaw up off floor and finds chair to sit on!

Bellanonna Tue 08-Nov-16 23:40:26

Well at least you have a half shaved dog, ruby, and you've made a start on the sorting out. You sound pretty chipper and that's all that matters. Hope you sleep well.

I've had a bit of a Peter day today. Went for a drink in the kitchen and then decided to shave the dog! So she's half way through being done because she wouldn't let me do her back legs, then later (after a rest and inhaler) I went upstairs where I was supposed to be putting some decals on my landing walls. No, didn't do that, decided to sort out all my clothes in my bedroom. Now I have a table covered in dog hair and piles of clothes/towels/bedding/rubbish in my bedroom waiting for another day to move them. Maybe not a happy day but a day where I could get a little done with the help of a chair to do sitting down shaving/tidying up and a pick up stick! grin

I'm saddened that so many people are carrying such weight. All I can do is wish you lightness in the future. Today was a mixed happy and sad day, which seems usual for me but overall my sadness is not as deep as that described by some others here and for that I am grateful.

For jackiekiel previous post from jordana ?

jordana Tue 08-Nov-16 21:32:15

So sorry for your sadness especially with the festive season approaching. A big struggle for you to come through. Maybe gransnet will be a help to you in your sorrow. Take care

Shanma Tue 08-Nov-16 20:31:54

Rubylady I am not depressed

Luckygirl. Thank you but of course there is nothing anyone on GN could do to change things

jackiekiel Tue 08-Nov-16 20:16:10

Terribly sad. I'm just coming up to the first anniversary of my partner's death, my younger sister has just died and her husband has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I sometimes wonder if i'll ever be happy again.

Ruth1958 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:46:05

Because they died so you can make choices. We would all be speaking German like it or not! That's why people want to come to the UK

ginny Tue 08-Nov-16 17:40:09

Today, happy that. DGS 1 'phoned to tell me he had been given two awards today. Sad that DGS 2 is a bit poorly with a tummy bug. Happy that I have made the Christmas puds.

Had lots of counselling over the years. Now keep busy with a variety of activities. Do yoga. Write. And try to be grateful. At one stage kept a gratitude diary. Had to find 5 things every day however minor. And miraculously I am still here!

David1968 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:00:35

Happy. Craft group this morning with lots of chat. Chiropractor this (early) afternoon for back! Then a couple of errands and a cuppa at the garden centre. Feel so lucky to have what I have. MRI tomorrow - thank goodness for NHS. (How I shall feel after the USA presidential election result, remains to be seen... If Trump gets I shall feel despondent.)

Stansgran Tue 08-Nov-16 16:29:17

Sad people tomorrow is another day. It may be better. I hope it is for you all.

baNANAGran3 Tue 08-Nov-16 16:17:27

Happy that most leaves have been swept up - until tomorrow! Did you have Netflix before the Crown came on Anno? Just wondering if it's worth getting, the series has great reviews.

Bellasnana Tue 08-Nov-16 16:01:57

Whilst I always try to count my many blessings, I have to confess I'm struggling to be 'happy' at the moment.sad

Gaggi3 Tue 08-Nov-16 15:50:24

Lots of family time in last few days, culminating in family lunch, cooked by DSoniL2. Today I was driven to the hospital by DD1, in brilliant sunshine, to have an ultrasound breast core biopsy on a lump, done by lovely, caring and efficient staff. Now cosily resting and being looked after by DH. Yes, I'm happy.

Rigby46 Tue 08-Nov-16 14:42:55

Happy because finished work 3 hours early

Iloveitaly Tue 08-Nov-16 14:11:42

I should be happy as we have just booked holiday but took 2 grandchildren to cinema as we have fallen out with their Mom and Dad and the eldest who has obviously been fed their prospective of what happened was very off with us. We love them all very much but Saturday was the first time we had seen them since June

I am content and have much to feel happy about, but as the parent of a child who suffers from depression and is currently in a state of crisis I am not easy in my mind. Having had a similar sounding childhood to KatyK and Ramblingrose I have become a bit of a Pollyanna - I wilfully seek out the good in situations when I can. So, I'm glad that I've been invited to a meeting tomorrow with the Mental Health team and that my child is still willing to confide in me and accept my help in times such as this.
