Comfortable high heels. Is there such a thing?

maggie I too was very tempted by those Hotters. They do them in purple as well....my own problem is fat ankles and small feet-they look like pig's trotters in most ankle boots..

Granmatty, I bought some wonderful high heel, open toe, soft, lightly punched leather shoes from Asda which are a dream to wear and are much admired. 5 pounds in a sale

We retired to a small village in the country and close to the sea. Our lovely new neighbours warned us from the start that if any woman was seen in the vicinity wearing heels that were anything but flat, she would be asked when the interview was! Certainly such footwear would have made no sense walking down lanes with no pavements (but plenty of cows!) or on paths to the beach....

When my daughter got married, I was persuaded to buy a pair of expensive four inch stilettos which perfectly matched my mother-of-the-bride outfit.In spite of the gel cushions I also bought,these proved to be an endurance test, and I could not wait to change into a comfortable pair of wedgies for the evening celebrations. Never again! I fear I shall never be elegant....

I have a couple of pairs of Hotters, and they are very comfortable. But I've gone and fallen for a pair of their boots, only to find that they aren't available in wider fit

I did try to cram the bunion on in there, Ugly Sister style, but sadly it was not to be.

I've never worn them.Ive had a bad back since I was 19.

Kitten heels look good, and give you a slight lift, also ankle boots with a small heel, I like most of the Hotter range( I could tick each page of the Hotter brochure.)

Oh, I love high heels! I used to wear them every day - I occasionally used to walk over a mile to work and back in them comfortably, but am restricted now to high days and holidays, because of the ruddy bunions. My prettiest ones are totally out of the question , but I can't bear to get rid of them, and I live in hope that a miracle bunion procedure is going to be developed that'll make them wearable for me again. I can still squeeze into some of my collection though, and the pain is worth it Surprisingly, the most comfortable I have are the cheapest - a pair of wide fit stilettos from New Look. The downside though is that they didn't use to offer leather shoes (they may do now).

I knew I'd get bunions, as they're in the family on both sides. My DGM swore that she would never wear flats, and never did, despite developing them in middle age - she trotted out every day in her court shoes, hat and gloves until the day before she died at 94. My DM only wore heels a few times in her life, and had horrendous bunions.

Adore high heels but damaged my ankle badly earlier this year( was wearing flats when I fell!!) so unable to wear them at the moment. Have lots of pretty dresses but I feel so frumpy wearing them with flats. Spent the summer wearing maxi dresses and flipflops. Bought some nice boots in Pavers for the winter to wear with jeans and leggings.
Hoping to eventually get back into my high heels. Can't bear the thought of throwing them out.

I have read that Christian Louboutin (sp) and Manolo Blahnik (sp again!) heels are comfortable. I will let you know after I have won the lottery and bought some

Never found a pair of comfy high heels or even kitten heels.I can't walk with elegance in them, I lwalk like a man in heels which kills the effect I'm looking for,so I stick with flats.

Luckygirl My late mother wore 4inch heels every day ,she had size two feet so when she was young her shoes were made for her and her sister who had sze 1 .Both ladies had no issues with their feet in fact before my mother died at 82 her chiropodist said he had seen feet 50 years younger in much worse condition ,she also had no issues with her knees or her hips or her back .I'm now 62 and I wear high heels every day even when I took my grankids for a walk in their prams.I feel better with my heels,as I'm just 5 ft 2 and also with my makeup which I wear every day .I have no intention of ever wearing flat shoes my feet have no corns or bunions and my joints are fine .I bought a pair of sandals with a tiny 1 inch heel as party shoes for my 7 year old grandaughter who loves my heels,sadly her other gran has forbidden her to wear them .

Got to be high(ish) heels for going out in nice dress. I love Hobbs or Peter Kaiser. Beautiful & comfortable, fully lined in the softest leather. They work for me & I've got a BUNION! Expensive but we're worth it ☺️

I too have hammer toes but I bought some dancing shoes from a specialist dance shop with low heels and they are the most comfortable shoes I have. The only problem is they have suede soles so are not really suitable for wearing outside but for an indoor party etc they are wonderful!! Hope this is helpful.

Bluebell my sympathy regarding arthritis in big toe - I have it as well - painful

Right up to my 30s I wore high heels, even walking all over London I now only wear trainers or lovely flat shoes/boots, I do miss my lovely stiletoes, I couldn't wear the mini skirts I wore then either, shame to cover my long legs

I tend to live in jeans most of the time so trainers are best & comfortable, Podiatrist also advises trainers as most shoes do not have thick enough soles (Diabetic Type 2)

Hotter shoes with heels are lovely - I bought a pair of 'Donna' heels in black suede and got nice remarks about them, and although they look smart they are like slippers. Couldn't resist a pair in dark blue, so comfortable that I forget I am wearing them.

I have found some lovely court shoes at Asda. Also some nice one at Matalan - heel no higher than 2". Have you had a look?

Rub your feet with Ibuprofen gel before a night out in heels! I've heard it works, not tried it yet, but definitely going to for the works Christmas party!

I still wear high heels. And wedges, which I love, however for really comfortable high heels try Gabor... expensive, ?? Ish...Reasonable.
Well, my tootsies love them and are positively tender with my feet so, I do recommend them.
I'm with Joan Collins regarding wearing high heels - if you can of course, but, it's not worth torturing yourself over.

Ecco make a high heeled shoe that doesn't feel like a high heel apparently. Worth trying on a pair.

Kitten heals all the way... they give you abit of height to extend the leg and look elegant whilst still being comfortable. Loads of lovely colours available as there very popular.

I am the same as I have hammer toes and bone displacia underneath one foot. I was recently attending a wedding and, like yourself, was dreading turning up in glittery flip-flops. I managed to get a pair of platform mules from Shuropody. I managed to wear them until well into the eveningas they very very comfy.

Meant to add that I find the gel pads you put under the ball of your foot are great as they stop your feet sliding forward and squashing your toes

I wear wedge sandals in the summer, maximum about two inches but haven't worn closed in shoes with heels for years. However I went to a wedding recently and as I was wearing a knee length dress I decided that I had to wear heels. Got a lovely pair of navy suede court shoes from Shoe zone. They were a very dainty style ( not easy for size 8) and only cost £12 and I they were comfortable all day.

I too adore wearing heels, clothes look so much better and I wore them 24/7 when I was working. Now retired and suffering from osteoarthritis in one of my knees I find I can't wear them and hate that. I have recently bought a pair of ankle boots with a heel which I fell in love with but I don't know when I will be able to wear them. Waiting for somewhere to go where I don't have to walk! Think I will have to do as Stangran suggests!
