What to call the UK?

Depends how you want to define united. Is the United States of America any more united than the UK? There are huge political and law differences between different states.

United means combined into a single unit. As Scotland would no longer be apart of what is now a single unit is it still a justifiable use of the word?

We would still be the United Kingdom ( England Wales and NI)

Geographically the mainland and associated islands would still be Great Britain.

Great Britain is not a political term.

The British Isles includes the whole of Ireland too.

The word 'Great' in Great Britain refers to the comparative greatness of size of the main island, not to political greatness. So the Scottish islands, Northern Ireland, the Isles of Wight, Anglesey and Man, etc are not part of Great Britain. They are, at the moment part of the United Kingdom.

I'd leave Wales like a shot, yes. Preferably to live in England. I was born in England but left in 1964, not to get away you understand, my father was a service man.

I've lived in Wales for 28 years, if Wales left, I would leave like a shot!

My Welsh SIL says they would leave like a shot! Open to correction on that one from our Welsh colleagues.
