Although I'm a fairly regular poster on MN, I lurked for quite a while here before I joined about three weeks ago. In that time I've been called a precious snowflake; accused of having a fit of the vapours ; being incredibly snobby, being satisfied to have something at which to take offence, creating a storm in a teacup, sniping, jumping in on one side or the other straightaway ( as a new poster) but you know the one thing that has really cut me to the quick was being accused of only knowing about 'six quid bottles ( of wine ) from the supermarket'. Anyway, will be having a break now for a few days and when I come back, I promise to behave better and to have drunk some more expensive wine

Thank, you kittylester and jalima for taking my post at FACE VALUE and not looking for insults where there were none.
Now who is being unfairly picked on?
angry

DaphneBroon Mon 31-Oct-16 17:41:10

Thank you DB for your less than kind words. At least we all now know exactly where we stand

WHAT les than kind words??
I was following on from and referring to what Ana and Jalima said about a certain newcomer and "migrants" from MN.
Do they get accused of "less than kind words"too?
???
Oh no, it must just be me then
confused

Maggiemaybe Mon 31-Oct-16 17:35:45

And we shall all revert to our usual saintly selves, Jalima. grin

Jalima Mon 31-Oct-16 17:26:32

Well, I didn't think it was directed at you either Anya sunshine

Please all be kind, I didn't mean any of this to blow up, it's just a storm in a £6 bottle of wine!

There must be something in the air tonight, all those forces unleashed.
It's All Saints Day tomorrow smile

gillybob Mon 31-Oct-16 17:23:20

So glad to hear that Anya I look forward to many, happy disagreements and hopefully a few agreements too, in the future. smile

kittylester Mon 31-Oct-16 17:22:44

I'm glad you've changed your mind too, Anya. sunshine

I read DB's post as being directed at Casawan, Rigby, etc not you.

Ana Mon 31-Oct-16 17:17:19

Yes indeed. Glad you've changed your mind Anya thlsmile

Maggiemaybe Mon 31-Oct-16 17:15:17

I'm very pleased to hear it, Anya, and I'm sure you've made the right decision. I'm not one for PMs, but GN would have been the poorer if you'd left.

Anya Mon 31-Oct-16 16:43:03

Thank you DB for your less than kind words. At least we all now know exactly where we stand.

I fully did intend to leave but two things have made me change my mind. Firstly the absolutely overwhelming support and understanding in PMs and on this thread. And secondly one particular phrase that GNHQ used in my correspondence with them. That really hit home and made me think.

I'm not going to go OTT and make any more of this incident - I think it has actually backfired on the perpetrators. Just so they know I will NOT be bullied off this site.

Thank you all.

magpie123 Mon 31-Oct-16 13:01:09

Take no notice Anya just have a break, that's what I did, no need to leave. It would be boring on here if everyone agreed with everyone else all the time. Why let a couple of nasty posts force you to leave.

Christinefrance Mon 31-Oct-16 12:55:08

Ditto gillybob , we are all entitled to our views whether or not they are in agreement with the original poster. Please don't let's have a boring GN , it's difficult sometimes when we have personal stuff going on not to feel hurt. Most posters do not intend things to be personal.

Jalima Mon 31-Oct-16 12:49:31

Jalima who is your gorgeous furry friend?
Not one of ours Charleygirl, but a picture from the internet - very cute!!
Although she is very similar to one belonging to the DGD!

merlotgran Mon 31-Oct-16 12:47:31

I've been out this morning so just caught up with today's posts on this thread.

Apart from adding my support for Anya and hoping she reconsiders her decision to leave, there's nothing I can say other than I'm not surprised things are coming to a head. Resentment has been simmering for some time.

Cuckoos are in the nest.

gillybob Mon 31-Oct-16 12:42:17

I know we don't always agree with each others point of view, but I really don't think you should leave Anya . Anyway, how boring would this forum be if we did all agree with each other?

I don't like the way some threads get nasty and I try to just stay away from them for a while.

As mumofmadboys said, have a few days off and then I hope to see you back here. smile

DaphneBroon Mon 31-Oct-16 12:38:18

A version of Veni, Vidi, Vici
As in "I came, I stirred, I went away again." ?

Jalima Mon 31-Oct-16 12:33:27

I will reiterate what Ana said earlier in the thread:

Bet Rigby and the other MNetters are loving all this!

cornergran Mon 31-Oct-16 10:11:52

I've been with GN a couple of years now. Lurked for a long while before posting. If this thread had been around when I was considering GN, which is my first and only experience of an on line forum, I wouldn't have joined. Why would I have wanted to? I feel sad and confused this morning. Anya I cannot recall recoiling from any of your posts, I have appreciated your insight and humour, your great support of others. . I miss jingl and wonder what on earth has happened to cause the loss of her and other posters. It feels so much like playground bullying, Anya' I hope that rl becomes less stressful very soon and that you decide not to be driven away if you would really like to stay here as many would miss you.

mcem Mon 31-Oct-16 10:11:18

Since I've been accused of making all sorts of nasty remarks I'm not sure which you mean.
I too believe we should 'live and let live' which is why I've held off for so long and haven't previously become involved. However enough's enough.
Persistent nastiness should be called out and that's what I did.
A case of not taking what you dish out? It works both ways.
In trying to be honest and fair by criticising one particularly nasty set of posts I stand accused of being insincere and patronising.
So be it. GN is not so significant a part of my life that I need to justify myself.
Thanks to those who have now pm'd their support.
I now have more important things to do like accompanying my daughter to yet another hospital appointment.

Bellanonna Mon 31-Oct-16 10:10:35

anya - I agree with all the supportive comments above. Please don't be put off by such a tiny minority of one. Today starts another week. Can you not put the unpleasant remarks behind you, knowing that virtually everyone on here wants you to stay? And if you can (put it behind you). just go on being yourself. Hope we "see" you soon ?

Judthepud2 Mon 31-Oct-16 10:10:29

NonnaW I second that! Please stop this now!! I think of GN as a place for fun, chat, stimulating discussion, support and virtual friendship. I can't for the life of me understand why posters would want to make others feel unhappy. Have we not got enough to deal with in our complicated real lives?

sad

Ceesnan Mon 31-Oct-16 10:00:55

mcem you just dont know when to stop do you? I have the strangest feeling that you are delighted that Anya has decided that enough is enough, and for the life of me just can't see why you felt obliged to launch that nasty remark. I wonder who is going to be your next target angry

NonnaW Mon 31-Oct-16 09:59:36

Oh please stop all this nastiness. Whatever happened to live and let live?

rosesarered Mon 31-Oct-16 09:42:09

I don't want Anya or anyone else to feel that they have to leave Gransnet and hope sincerely that this will not happen.

rosesarered Mon 31-Oct-16 09:40:31

Have just come on here and........have never read such patronising ( breathtakingly so) posts as you have just posted mcem

Candlefran Mon 31-Oct-16 09:36:54

"I wish anya well in her quiet time of contemplation and introspection."

Is she joining a nunnery?! Surely not!
