I used to have two ferrets as pets. Cor, they Doan arf pen and ink. Very intelligent though.

Football wives, Huh, we should be so lucky. Judging from the racket coming from the pub nearby - newly refurbished hang-out for the 'university' off shoot just down the road - it's a bit more 'Shameless' than that. Sounds a bit like the dregs of Ladies day at Aintree.
I once got bitten by a ferret, or pole cat - not sure of the difference. Anyway, the wild variety which had been caught by one of our cats. It was truly beautiful - the ferret, not the cat which was a bit of a manky mutt - so I took pity on it and rescued it. Little bugger bit me to the bone. These northern critters have no sense of gratitude at all!

Charleygirl - then I am moderately jealous. We don't even have a Waitrose up here.

Ferrets have got a vicious bite. They have to be handled a lot when young. They are so inquisitive and have no fear. Very energetic.

Casawan, my favorite supermarket for a treat started I think in Preston, just had a week in the Lakes and shopped at Booths. We used to go to Ladies night at the races, so I can sympathise, but it was good entertainment to see just how badly people can behave, tinged with sadness that so much money was being wasted.

Hmm there is alot of sarcasm, and nit picking back biting goes on here, but it goes on everywhere, in " Real Life" too. Amongst the silly, snobby, precious or whatever stuff there are some gems of information, shared experiences, funny stories and the like.

I tend to do what I do in " real Life", which is to ignore the ones I don't like. and join in with the ones I think are ok, even if I don't agree with the point being made, after all we don't all hold the same opinions on things, which is what makes it interesting, as long as it doesn't bring on a personal attack .

One thing I do think would be good if GNHQ are listening??? Don't be so quick off the mark to delete a post, that is so annoying to log in and find a few posts missing. I am sure we are all adult enough here to cope with a not so nice post now and again? What I would like to see is an ignore button so if someone upsets us, and we don't wish to see or communicate with them again, we can press that, it is then our decision and not that of a faceless person at head office. Perhaps we can un ignore at a later date when things have calmed down. Would anyone else like to see something like this?

A few points-
Some people do get terribly upset by nasty comments
We are not all women or even grandparents.
Most of us have little time on our hands to cause trouble.
GN is not normally bad tempered (or it wasn't) and is full of lovely, friendly people.

I'm sad about the way it is developing.

If being rude and/or aggressive winding people up is an acceptable way to "have fun, Saturdays are so boring" that is not the GN I joined.
In the same way that it is now recognised that racist/sexist/ageist jokes are NOT "banter" perhaps they should think again.

Think GN would be a better place if dodgy posts were ignored in the first place. Some are just too quick to jump in and turn a thread into something worse.

Glad to see lots of GN humour on here never-the-less
