We have a good idea of what we think it is - a networking site providing support, entertainment and information. But it would be really interesting and useful for us to know what the site represents to you, the ones who use it every day.

Just come to this thread and was startled to see I'm named as a good guy too confused or did you mean Ana?

Whoever you are you've posted some very interesting observations!

Ana Fri 28-Oct-16 20:37:24

Why would anyone who has little babies want to join Gransnet? Wouldn't Mumsnet be more appropriate? confused

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 20:35:19

Pompa... goldfish.. no.

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 20:34:09

Agreed grin. I don't care actually, but what I do care about is the notion that Grans are old judgemental people.

Most of us are not. We have little babies and we come across this site, where we are ignored, trolled etc.

People who have been here for ages are driving new grans away, we don't have anywhere else to go on the net.

X posts, mine took too long and as usual the thread has moved on.

Time to go

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 20:32:58

Hmm, I'm still taking the remarks as clues.

Jalima Fri 28-Oct-16 20:31:23

One clue. Ana, Merlot and Pomps, you guys are great

I have a small hunch. oh tell, please, merlot

Wish they would correct my spelling errors, suppose it would take too long ab, but you are our Olympic gold medallist grin, lap of honour please

I have never had a post edited, although sometimes I wish they would!

ExScot You're either a Scot or you aren't, where'er you may roam

What does GN mean to me - at the moment I am confused

Hijacked thread?

annsixty Fri 28-Oct-16 20:26:38

Whoever you are you are rather good at personal remarks.

I was the one noted for flouncing, but that doesn't help me. confused

Ana Fri 28-Oct-16 20:21:52

Yes, I'm with glass too. CBA with the rest of this thread.

merlotgran Fri 28-Oct-16 20:19:45

Good point, glass.

DaphneBroon Fri 28-Oct-16 20:16:09

I have never been to the Edinburgh meet up.
Confused? Or just confused and bewildered?

DaphneBroon Fri 28-Oct-16 20:15:20

Oh god, cryptic posts and manufactured mysteries..... please tell me it's not true.

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 20:15:16

Why did you put your oar in at the Edinburgh meet? Then you flounced off. I am not a goldfish grin.

DaphneBroon Fri 28-Oct-16 20:08:16

Stilltellingitlikeitisn't
You may think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
PS I am not an ex-Scot as you so charmingly put it.

DaphneBroon Fri 28-Oct-16 20:07:02

How could I forget Wobblybits?

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 20:01:47

Hmm, did I accidentally hit on something with goldfish?

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 20:01:16

Daphne, before I go, I have never come across such a nosey ExScot as you. You have scurried into the kitchen, and probably the church of Gransnet, and made the most nasty comments I have ever heard on a forum.

glassortwo Fri 28-Oct-16 20:01:15

What does Gransnet mean to us Lara... well to some Gransnet is a lifeline.

They use this forum as someone to reach out to, have a chat, have a moan, have a gripe about things they maybe cant say to family.

Voice their feelings in a safe environment. Things they feel strongly about!

To others its just a excuse to hound a person and find every excuse to report for the slightest thing, until GNHQ ban that person. angry

Ana Fri 28-Oct-16 20:01:07

'people who don't use a proxy' - whatever does that mean? thlconfused

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 19:58:14

Blimey DB, how do you remember that ??? I have enough trouble knowing that it's Friday, starting to worry about myself, I hope it's down to all the pills I'm taking atm.

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 19:57:41

They will shoot me in the head for even exposing this. Howevever, Anya is another good GNetter. Xx They do edit, delete and ban people who don't use a proxy.

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 19:56:08

Trouble with me is that I have the memory of a goldfish, these clues are passing me by.

DaphneBroon Fri 28-Oct-16 19:56:00

It's 5 to 8 from where I am sitting. Are you abroad stilltellingthetruth? (Hardly late on a Friday night hmm )
However if we ARE still on the topic of what GN "means to us" perhaps those of us who remember lively intellectual debate, talent d poetry, some often bad jokes, not suffering fools gladly but offering wise counsel, support and genuine friendship, might care to pause a moment and remember greatnan who went missing 3 years ago this weekend. sad
