We have a good idea of what we think it is - a networking site providing support, entertainment and information. But it would be really interesting and useful for us to know what the site represents to you, the ones who use it every day.

WTF?

Btw GN means rather a lot less to me these days than it did in the past. That has surprised me because of the major transition in my life abroad which I expected would make my UK contacts more precious.

P.s. NE and Scottish Grannies – You are still often in my thoughts – and I really miss our glorious meet-ups. I should love to do it again but can't afford the air fare.

Wot, she/he denied the goldfish connection. I agree that this is not JBF.

What does Gransnet mean to me? — chat with friends and acquaintances. It's a place of contact from my hillside eyrie.

NanaandGrampy Sat 29-Oct-16 08:55:36

wow .... I'm glad I was asleep.

What a thread.... and what rubbish !!

Sorry you seem to have attracted someone's vitriol Daphne - there's nowt queerer than folks.... it seems smile

mumofmadboys Sat 29-Oct-16 09:03:13

I agree - unfair attack Daphne. Ignore her/ him.

What started as an intriguing and fun thread, turned sour, shame I love a mystery, But not at DB's expense.
At this moment I can let remarks like that wash over me, on another day they would have me suicidal.
I see several posts have been deleted and I suspect the OP may have gone.

Wobblybits Sat 29-Oct-16 09:13:47

LOL, I didn't mean the OP, Lara can stay, I meant the one who started the mystery.

Judthepud2 Sat 29-Oct-16 09:20:24

I think you might be right that the intruder has gone WB. But Laragransnet was the OP. This was just a mischievous gremlin trying to stir things up. Pity s/he had to be selective ?

Judthepud2 Sat 29-Oct-16 09:21:23

Soop's! X posts sorry.

Anyway. On with Saturday.

Judthepud2 Sat 29-Oct-16 09:22:00

That should have been Woops! ?

Anya Sat 29-Oct-16 09:25:01

Obviously someone who'd been banned from GN and had been upset by DB

I can think of one person who might fit that description and I haven't seen her on the site recently.

harrigran Sat 29-Oct-16 09:31:32

Thanks kitty and morethan, I have good days and some not so good days but even if I don't post I like to catch up with what is going on in GN world. Not sure about this thread though, started off normal enough grin

downtoearth Sat 29-Oct-16 09:47:30

RIP greatnan.....with respect and affection

From Nellie as you knew me flowerswine

downtoearth Sat 29-Oct-16 09:49:24

I also have an inkling hmm don't post much but read a lot...

morethan2 Sat 29-Oct-16 10:30:05

I'm afraid I'm the opposite I winge whineand moan post a lot but don't read a lot. I just haven't got the space in my head. I often read a thread but if it's too long I realise I've missed somthing relevant and so it goes above my levelofintelligence head. I do keep some things in my thoughts harrigran is a good example. I want to ask how are you? but don't want to start a whole thread because it seems intrusive when perhaps those of us in a difficult place want privacy. Maybe we just need a ongoing how r u thread. So people can ask and get a quick ?. Anyway I've no idea what all the cryptic chatter was about confused

wot Sat 29-Oct-16 10:40:34

Good idea, more than! A how are you? thread.

Charleygirl Sat 29-Oct-16 10:43:25

I cannot believe that it is 3 years since greatnan's accident.

Wobblybits Sat 29-Oct-16 10:59:12

Morethan2, couldn't have put it better, not enough room for everything.

DaphneBroon Sat 29-Oct-16 11:12:27

GN used to mean firing up the laptop (now iPad) and saying Good Morning to friendly souls, enquiringly after their well being, sharing their joys and shedding a tear with their sorrows
Latterly, I feel a brew is too often necessary to gird the loins for whatever might be thrown in this (or indeed any) direction.
Greatnan typified what was best about GN and those of us who remember lively intellectual debate, her gift of poetry, some often dodgy jokes, not suffering fools gladly but offering wise counsel, support and genuine friendship, mayl pause a moment, reflect and remember a unique person who went missing 3 years ago this weekend. RIP Greatnan and may perpetual light shine upon you. sad

tanith Sat 29-Oct-16 11:41:38

It says all I need to know about GN that we still keep in our thoughts that lovely lady Greatnan its tribute to her that she is remembered with great affection by many of us. flowers

Swanny Sat 29-Oct-16 12:01:21

Well that shot off into the ether didn't it? grin Started out as intriguing, became abusive then seemingly self-destructive. Surely not what OP was expecting and hopefully not a metaphor for Gransnet sad

Charleygirl Sat 29-Oct-16 12:18:29

I do not think that this thread is quite what Lara was expecting!

Has that person said her party piece and vanished, hopefully forever? There is really no necessity to be so rude and vitriolic, hiding behind a nom de plum.

How can anybody be an ex Scot? I have lived in London for more years than I ever lived in Scotland but I am still Scottish and proud to be so.

Wobblybits Sat 29-Oct-16 12:40:17

I feel ashamed to have encouraged this thread at first, it seemed an intriguing mystery at first, but then went sour at DB's expense.
Sorry DB

annsixty Sat 29-Oct-16 12:54:10

I tried !last night and again this morning to post on this thread and couldn't. I was getting paranoid. I feel very strongly how cowardly it was to post those comments and then run without us knowing which ex member it was who had turned so nasty.
