Had to look up my interpretation of heideramhoderum, Its in the Scots dictionary but in a poshified ,dare I say Anglicied version.

Twas in usage in my youth, maybe of 'Sunset Song' derivation, Grassic Gibbon and the Mearns.

Any one else use it?

corner Throughout my life I've worked in three different departments of the Civil Service. All clerical jobs. I was then employed as a proof reader for Avon Cosmetics sales promotion department. After that, I worked for the same company in accounts. I was selected for a course as a prospective M&S supervisor. Felt that it wasn't "for me" after a few weeks and became a nanny/housekeeper for a couple who ran a business in Brighton. I was a rep for a self employed photographer. Went around to visit businesses with a portfolio of his work. Somehow managed to earn good commission to top up a very low wage. In time I then worked in a pharmacy in Cornwall. Sold some of my paintings from our home gallery. My last job was managing a gift shop, also in Cornwall. Part time jobs included working behind the bar at the Saints rugby football ground. Cocktail waitress at a posh hotel. General dogsbody assistant in a well known inn in Cambridgeshire. Saturday evening silver waitressing at a big, busy hotel in Lee-on-Solent. Helpmate in a one-man odd job business...anything from helping to pack for removals and hedge cutting/general gardening/house work. And more besides. In fact, I'm astonished at how varied the work was. I always thought...give it my best and see what happens.

My OH can be polite on the phone then rant at me afterwards. I find it difficult and have been known to say 'can you find a grown up for me to speak to'

Tizliz I was soooo polite, not exactly the way that my brain was working but luckily what was in my brain did not come out of my mouth or I would be paying them compensation rather than JL giving me £34 back.

I blew all the leaves to the edges on Sunday (not picked up yet), then yesterday am raked up the newly fallen ones. Today the lawn is inches thick with them - it was the frost yesterday. I can't pick them all up and OH will HAVE TO help. He does agree, but when he will get round to it I don't know. When I had a riding accident I did pay someone to pick them up and I am beginning to think I need help again. But I hate giving in to old age - and I am not that old.

JL came 5th in Which? best internet shop survey. It is one of only three Which recommended supplier. You shouldn't have been passed around by them.

I have been in touch with JL and my installation fee will be refunded so I am happy. I am surprised that they do not use a free number- I dread to think how much that call cost me as I was shuffled from pillar to post, speaking with I think 4 people in total. I was pleasant as were they so I am happy.

All I need now is something to actually watch on TV apart from the news but that is outside JL's remit.

I've just discovered that he got the prize and handshake for trying the carrots and broccoli! That sounds more like it!

Maybe Wb could become our tech guru and be paid in ?

Re my TV, Wobblybits deserves a knighthood as he has saved me a lot of money as did D my cleaner. I will ring JL, just thinking what to say to them!!! I am sure that I will want to return there for other items or clothes but I must calm down first.

Tara and I lay in bed this am watching the news- all I need now are coffee facilities upstairs!

Daphne I have decided that I am adopting Flynn. Admittedly if he starts having meltdowns he may be returned temporarily. I have a feeling that Tara would be jealous, especially as she would have to give up her double bedroom.

I have 2 leaf blowers (don't ask!) I should be out clearing up.

kittylester I hated vegetables at that young age and I do not think that broccoli was around in my neck of the woods. He will eat a shed load if the head shakes his hand each time he wins! they are so cute at that age but I still prefer cats. Flynn is the exception.

kitty how lovely for your dgs, especially the handshake! Does he really like carrots and broccoli, my dgd loves her veg. She phoned me last night (well, daddy did) to tell me that she is top of the class because none of the others can read like her! They are mostly a lot younger than her though

Shocked this (well, yesterday now) morning - dental checkup indicated a small filling, dentist said I can do it now and you won't need an injection. What?? Doesn't he realise how terrifying he is? Well, still shocked I nodded, he did it and I didn't feel a thing. Came away feeling very proud. .

I thought I had a varied working life, soop, but think your experiences far outshine mine. Lovely sunset, sadly we still have damp and gloom. Please send some sun? There are weeds waiting for eviction and I am a fair weather gardener. Thank you for updating us about number and bella. I often find myself thinking about them.

Here's hoping all feline friends are tucked up in bed - no matter which bed . Time I was, too.

As you may have seen on another thread, I was indeed "looking on the bright side of life" today!!
Granny heaven, lots of cuddles, bit of buggy pushing, happy little boy, nice walk to the William Morris gallery (shut on Tuesdays) but round the park and gardens, meeting a couple of DD's (hypnobirthing) mummy friends plus their babies.
Thinking of all and any who may have had a less uplifting day

I've come in to show off!! Our youngest grandson started school in September and is really loving it. He rang this afternoon to say that he had been given the lunchtime award for eating his carrots and broccoli, he was given the certificate in assembly and the head SHOOK HIS HAND!

I am sulking. I picked three bags of leaves up this morning, went in for a cup of tea and looked out the window to see the leaves falling of the trees like a snow storm. My back aches so they can stay there ???

I'm popping in to say I'm still alive.
The last month has been so busy I've had no time.
Next week returns to normal and I will try and catch up

I saw a friend of mine today that I have not met for a few weeks, he had had a heart attack. He said he could not understand why he had it ---- WHAT !!!!, he is circa 25 stone and smokes like a trooper, I hope he does realise the reason, otherwise he will another pretty soon.

Wobbly it occurred to me today that she would do well installing the TVs at JL. She would have a problem with the hours because she has a 6 year old to take to and pick up from school. Her husband works but not always in London. I doubt if JL would pay her what she is worth!
