A new experience

Teetime so do l. Why are some women so hung up about going into pubs on their own? I've always found it odd.

I wouldn't mind being alone - we are often just the two of us when we go to see a film as we like the morning showing for that very reason - no-one rustling sweet papers and kicking the seat. I quite happily go in pubs, restaurants cafés on my own.

I have also been the only viewer in the cinema. It was at an arts centre, staffed by volunteers and they said they would run it if I wanted them to or give me my money back. The steward said he hoped I would stay as he has paid to park for the afternoon. I had also driven in and parked so I asked for it to be run. It is a strange experience.

Took the children to see the Care Bears movie many years ago. There were only a few people in the theatre. At the break (remember when films had an interval) it turned out that the others were the staff and came to ask us if we wanted ice creams etc as it was not worth loading up the tray.

This happened once to me when I took my little granddaughter to see a Winnie the Pooh film some years back She was totally mystified why we were the only ones in the cinema screen I told her it was organised specially for her as she was so important (I don't think she believed me but it was a nice story

We were the only two in the cinema once. Then another couple came in and sat in the seats right in front of us !

As I left in answer to FarNorth, I glanced up to where in the old days of where you would have seen a projector, it looks as though today as its multiscreen cinema they must have a central area, and its projected onto the screen using a method of mirror imaging.

I have had that experience too, only once.
It didn't bother me but I did wonder if the film would have given up after a while if no-one came in at all.

Hi 12Michael, I can't imagine how you must have felt, I don't know what I would have done, and was it worth it with all the traveling, we always wait for the DVD we love Tom Hanks and have got a collection of his films, but I'm afraid that if the car can't get their then we don't go.

DH and I saw The Book Thief and we were the only two in the cinema. It was a noon show and we had taken our lunch, it was most enjoyable.

I would have been happier if a few older types had been in there, I used to go to the senior screenings at the cinema in question , obvious with bus cuts have faced trying to fit a film in around restricted bus services.
The senior was great, seeing former work colleagues in there, and also getting an elderly female seated beside me , made it just as comfortable but we never spoke.

A friend is a huge Les Mis fan. He has seen the show 27 times, often when working in London. On one occasion he was the only member of the audience. It was the week of 7/7 and all tourists had cancelled due to fear of terrorism. The whole show went ahead and Steve sat in the front row and sang along. At the end the cast applauded him!

I took young GCs to see a film a few years back and they were absolutely delighted that we were the only 3 in the place!!

I do think Mick if no one else was in the cinema with you, then there was no one to object to you moving seats.

My ED and I once went to a screening of free tickets to a French film with subtitles. It was us two and one man, now that was awkward as the film was about four women and some lesbianism was in it. Not that I am against lesbianism but it did make me wonder what a guy on his own was doing watching a French lesbian film with subtitles. Maybe improving his language skills?

Despite the build up on the One show last week , in last Fridays Daily Mail they gave it 2 stars.
But felt the pattern of the film , featuring the Robert Langdon character, was no different to past films such Da Vinci.
Seat wise would have been nice to switch my seat , but its a cinema where you select your seat at the booking area.

That happened to me I was most uncomfortable. I want to see Inferno but was worried it would happen again. Is the film any good?

I think I'd feel a little uncomfortable with that too Mick. I wonder if they would have run the film anyway if you hadn't gone.
I have shared a screening with H and 20 others but I think you definitely have a claim to fame now

I do think maybe I would feel uncomfortable if I was the only person watching but I would have choice of seats and no queues when the ice cream lady came around I haven't been to the cinema for a very long time do you get concessions with it being early afternoon showing ?
