Loads of songs remind me of the summer of '76 - I'd just finished O Levels and spent the summer listening to Joybringer by Manfred Mann, Peter Frampton, Kiki Dee and Elton John and ELO.

FM by Steely Dan always reminds me of setting off for University, as does Forever Autumn by Justin Haywood.

Parallel Lines by Blondie and Steely Dan's Greatest Hits remind me of my first year in Uni.

Don't Know Why by Norah Jones reminds me of my dd being a baby crawling round the new house.

Just read through this thread and Kim19 I remember David Whitfield sooo well. i wasn't a youth at the time I was only 12 ( in 1959) but I will never forget my Mother playing ' Cara Mia '. I think my Dad had got a record player from somewhere and she played it over and over. My parents split up a year later but that song always makes me think of happy times. I still love it to this day what a fab voice he had.

Only 16 by Craig Douglas, because I was 16 when it came out and I thought he was singing it just for me. I joined his fan club and met him twice, the second time to hand over a scrap book I made of loads of cuttings I had found about him. He was very pleased and was going to give it to his Mum!

Daisygirl I used to work in an office of four women in an engineering works, the work experience scheme. The sales manager was a scouser called Bob and when "I want to be Bobby's girl" came on the radio, he would bound into the main office and sing along with it, not narcissistic at all.

He was known as Bobby one ball as he had had one testicle removed. The remaining one still made two children though.

We got him back one April Fool when we got a firm he sold to to phone up and tell him that all the tubing he had sent on his last order had to be returned as it was drilled our wrong! He was having a fit until one of the other women held up an April Fool sign at his door. It still took him a minute or two to cotton on! Good days.

The album "Bookends" by Simon and Garfunkel. My best friends' older brother bought a copy and when he went out, we would sneak into his room to listen to it on his Dansette record player. I have been a fan of S@G ever since.
The icing on the cake though was watching 'Department S' on his black and white TV afterwards. Oh how we ADORED Jason King, so suave, so sophisticated, and as I realised after seeing clips from the series online,many years later, so blooming thin and camper than a row of tents at Glastonbury !!!!!!!
What did we ever see in him I now wonder ?
Oh well, at the time he was our absolute dream guy.

For those of you pining to be back in the 60s, try the 'You Say You Want a Revolution' at the V&A. For a short while you can time travel! I did.....until I saw this elderly lady coming towards me and realised it was me in a full length mirror! Cruel

I really loved "Bobby's Girl" too Daisygirl because I had a big crush on my cousin Robert. Now all these years later I have my own Bobby - my Precious Son Robert!!

I hasten to add that nothing came of my crush - that would be weird - and I haven't seen my cousin since we have grown up.

Help - my ex-boyfriend and I danced to this at our 6th Form dance. Happy days.
