What do you have that could be worth a lot of money?

My engagement ring. It's a genuine antique, not passed down through the family though. My DH bought it in an antique shop. It has a rose cut diamond, not very big, but I love it and it is going to my daughter when the time comes.

My body..it's priceless!

My jewellery is probably one of the most valuable things I own, Harri but it's my jewellery and not being sold - ever!

My garden. Thinking of selling a plot for building. The proceeds would pay for the necessary work on my old house so I can stay here rather than have to move to a retirement apartment like a battery hen.

My jewellery, but once worn becomes sentimental value only, resale fetches very little.

The most valuable thing in our house must be a guitar DH bought several years ago in London. Not being a musician I can't even remember what type! He never plays it so I think it's just sentimental (may have played one when he was in a band or maybe one of his guitar heroes had one).

I dont have anything, never owned jewellery only bits I enjoy from the high street I have some bits and pieces from my nanas house which would be over 100 years old I beautiful three legged milking stool she had when she was a kid ( living on a farm) and a riding crop she told me a king ( guessing George) gave her Dad when he opened some gates for him whilst he was out riding maybe urban myth I have no way of knowing a big pile of my grandads 78 s and sheet music some signed by the composer or director but I ve no idea what to do with them so they just sit there in my spare room gathering dust I have my grandads electric watch which has a receipt for £600 so that might be worth a bit

Nothing of any value at all I'm afraid. I haven't even got any jewellery I could pawn. Fortunately I am not bothered too much about fancy jewellery but I would have loved an engagement ring . Never mind .

I have some antique silver ware which I think is not worth so much now as the value of silver has dropped. Ah well no need to worry about insurance.

Two small 'etchings' of classical ladies, that I love. Bought in an old book shop in London in the 60's. I laughingly say that they are my hidden fortune. They cost 4/6 each, in old money.. Deedaa, I hope you are not polishing away the 'patina'!!

Nothing of any great value, just sentimental items that have been given to me. I have an antique 'embroidered' picture of a sailing boat, which was done by one of the o.h. relatives, and I love it because it is a reminder of his ancestors who were sailors from Cornwall. It is always a shame, when someone has a beautiful piece of very expensive jewellery, and is afraid, or never has the occasion to wear it.

Very little indeed of any great value. Some Masons Ironstone plates and jugs just "collectables" because they are pretty but not essentially valuble.

Jalima That old lady said very carefully that she had found it on "private rubbish tip" that she ran. I did wonder just who would use a private rubbish tip to dispose of lots and lots of valuable jewellery in pristine original boxes . . . .

Did it have a good substantial fence, I wonder?

I've got a pair of bronze figures. My mother was told they were worth a thousand pounds each, but I fear the bottom has really fallen out of the bronze market lately. I do have an Arts and Crafts copper jardiniere which I have always loved and I was thrilled to find it was by a known artist and worth several hundred pounds. I've even started polishing it occasionally!

I have a collection of antique postcards that I keep meaning to get valued, not worth thousands but I do have quite a lot . They were found in the loft of a house my ex- husband was renovating the owner told him to get rid of them and I still have them in the little leather suitcase they were found in.

Nope! Nothing valuable. And I would only worry about it if we did.

No antiques here either! I guess the most valuable would be a couple of bits of jewellery but I am talking low £hundreds not £thousands. Our furniture is modern. No family heirlooms as our families did not have much money to buy them

I did enjoy seeing the old lady who had a load of jewellery from a rubbish tip.

...and then say 'oh we will always keep it for sentimental reasons' when you just know it will go straight to auction!

It annoys me when they make out they know nothing at all about the item they've had in their family for donkey's years and ooh and aah at every pronouncement the expert makes, especially the revelation that it's probably worth ££££s!

...and it annoys me when they turn up with something they know is of value that they have bought for a few pounds from a charity shop, and stand there smirking at what a bargain they have got.
