NewgranGill Mon 10-Oct-16 16:26:00

Oh NanSue how annoying - still if you get really angry that will certainly deal with the fear![gron]

Maggiemaybe Mon 10-Oct-16 16:08:23

Oh no sad, how frustrating for you. Fingers crossed that it all goes ahead very soon.

nanaK54 Mon 10-Oct-16 15:45:07

Oh you poor thing, hope you get a new date very soon

dustyangel Mon 10-Oct-16 15:39:59

Total Sympathy from me NanSue. My SiL Is, I think, having a major abdominal operation at the moment. I don't expect to hear anything yet,but I know the total upheaval and worry the whole family is feeling right now. I hope it won't be too long for you and will be thinking of you. flowers

NanSue Mon 10-Oct-16 15:06:50

Thanks annsixty That is interesting. They haven't phoned yet and they did definitely said they would phone today, with an alternative date that would probably be next week, However I won't hold my breath!

baubles Mon 10-Oct-16 15:05:05

How frustrating for you. Hope you don't have to wait too long for another date.

annsixty Mon 10-Oct-16 14:51:48

When I was waiting for my op the Lady in the next bed was sent home as the surgeon had gone home Ill. The Dr who came to tell her said they are obliged to offer her a date within 28 days.
Not much consolation to you Nansue hope you hear soon.

tanith Mon 10-Oct-16 14:16:18

For goodness sake how disappointing I was just about to post a good luck post on your other thread when I saw this..
I hope its not too long a wait for you flowers

Luckygirl Mon 10-Oct-16 14:03:16

Blimey - what a roller coaster! You poor thing! Feel free to swear on here - we can take it - big boys and girls and all that.

I do hope that things go according to schedule next time. All that emotion expended for nothing! Let us hope you will feel less scared next time.

Jane10 Mon 10-Oct-16 13:54:11

What a shame. Such a stressful situation in the first place. Fingers crossed for next time.

NanSue Mon 10-Oct-16 13:52:23

thatbags Thank you, very reassuring to hear that your Dad had such a positive outcome.

Crafting Mon 10-Oct-16 13:51:35

Oh NanSue what a disapointment. It's happened to my DH a few times and you get so worked up ready for the op and then you're back to square one again.

Treat yourself to something nice tonight and try not to worry. Please do let us know how you get on and when you get a new date. cupcake more enjoyable than flowers smile

janeainsworth Mon 10-Oct-16 13:51:23

Oh nansue how frustrating for you! We had a similar thing happen 2 years ago, and the good news was that second time around, everyone involved was so p*ssed off with having to rearrange things that the anxiety just about evaporated!

NanSue Mon 10-Oct-16 13:50:03

wobbly hope you're fit and well now. Nina 3rd time lucky or your friend*. kitty How did you guess? but I did do it quietly. The staff were so lovely and so apologetic, so I pasted on a smile and bid them farewell. I hope you're bil doesn't have to wait too long.

grannyactivist Mon 10-Oct-16 13:42:28

NanSue - what a frustrating situation to be in. Hope the new date comes through soon. flowers

Alima Mon 10-Oct-16 13:40:07

No, that's awful NanSue, cruel too. Fingers crossed for a date very soon.

kittylester Mon 10-Oct-16 13:39:41

Did you swear, NanSue - we'd forgive you if you did! smile Let us know what happens

MY Bil had his op cancelled last week, too, which mucked up no end of family plans that had been changed to allow for the op and which will no doubt have to be changed to accommodate the new date.

thatbags Mon 10-Oct-16 13:39:11

Oh dear! How annoying for you both. All the best when it does happen.

My dad had a successful brain op (to remove a cyst that was causing a serious blockage) 38 years ago and was fine.

ninathenana Mon 10-Oct-16 13:39:10

Very sadly all to common. My friend is due to have pre op tests tomorrow for a procedure that has already been cancelled twice.
I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

Linsco56 Mon 10-Oct-16 13:37:30

What a disappointment. You must have hoped it would be behind you by now. Hopefully you'll receive a call soon. Fingers crossed for you.

Charleygirl Mon 10-Oct-16 13:29:45

So near and yet so far- that was most unfortunate. I would not be at all happy, mainly because I have to make arrangements for my cat to go into a cattery.

BlueBelle Mon 10-Oct-16 13:15:59

Oh that is a shame after getting all worked up for it I do wish you luck and hope it all goes ahead as soon as possible ??

Wobblybits Mon 10-Oct-16 13:10:42

You poor thing, that is so upsetting, had a couple of ops cancelled because I was not fit enough (chest infection), detaining when you've geared your self up.

NanSue Mon 10-Oct-16 13:00:20

I probably should have tagged this on to the "I'm scared" thread but I'm not really thinking straight.
Got to the Neuro ward at 7.30 this a.m and was admitted along with another lady with a similar problem but under another surgeon. We had all our obvs., done, along with bloods etc., Had a chat with Anaesthetist and prepared to wait. Around 10.30 the other lady was in her gown and settled on her bed, when a young doctor came to tell her that the hospital was on a black alert, ( which apparently is the worst it can be) and there was not a single free bed in the hospital but they were desperately trying to discharge people to accomadate her, not long after, she was told it would not go ahead. She told me it was the second time in 2 weeks! Of course half an hour later I was told exactly the same thing. They did say they would phone me today with another date, hopefully next week.
So once again all you lovely GN's, Thank you for all your lovely messages and good wishes. Next time maybe I'll go quietly and just report in when it's' all over.hmm
