At what age did you become a grandparent?

Going back to Flossieturner's original posting, my oldest GD is 11 and I have done the school run more times in the last 11 years than I ever did when my own children were at school. By the way, I was 56 when I became eligible for Gransnet but my mother was 52 and her mother 45. I suppose that demonstrates changes in society.

61, with 2 grandchildren now 6 and 3. now 68 husband nearly 70, and both starting to feel more tired. wish i was l0 years younger. still, I wouldnt be without them.

59 for dgs1, 62 for dgs2.
I felt being a great aunt at 57 was infinitely worse than being a Nonna ?

I think I'll be gaining grandchildren for years yet, Flossieturner. My oldest child is 41 and has two dc, aged 6 & 3, my next has a two year old, the third is married but no babies yet and the youngest is only 20 and at uni!

I was 57 when DGS1 arrived, 58 for DGS2, 60 for DGS3, and am ever hopeful for a few more yet. I just love the bones of them

SueDonim I had a 14 year old a home too, when I became a granny. Now he and his brother, who is 10 years older have little ones all the same age.

I was 71. They are 4, 4 and 2. Drove 1.5 hours today to look after one and collect the other from school, feed them both, play with them then drive home in the rush hour. Feeling knackered. ( one of the 4 y.o is a cousin)

I'll be 65, my first grandchild is due 3rd January, so exciting!

43, my daughter was 16. It was such a shock I wouldn't change him. I would change how I handled it though. I've got 8 all together. The oldest is almost 21 the youngest is 4 and just gone to school. It's been amazing this nanna business. I've loved it.

I was 56 when my first GC was born. I have big gaps between my own children so still had a 14yo dd at home myself.

I was 47, my grandchildren are now grown up and living independent lives. I don't really want to be a great grandma though. Vanity, vanity all is vanity.

Had my first baby at 19 so thought I'd be a young gran, but it wasn't till I was 54,then had 4 in 4 years. I had my last baby at 38, so my youngest 2 have yet to start, serves me right for having a 15 year age gap!.

56 when the first arrived and 65 when the most recent dgs was born. I have my lovely step Dgs as well and he's 24 - I've known him since he was 5 so I was his nana when I was 46. All of mine were in their 30's before they had children-dd1 was 36, dd2 was 31 and ds was 32. I would have liked to have been a younger granny but my children and Mother Nature had other ideas! I definitely don't have same energy with little two but I'm a great storyteller, Lego builder, train set constructor, puppet theatre actor, mistress of a range of funny voices and maker of all things glue-y and sticky with loo rolls and yoghurt pots. My footballing days are over though!

55 when the first was born and 64 when the last arrived. There are now 8 between 12 and 4.

I was 53. Waited for ages then 6 came along within 6 years.

60. I didn't think my daughter had any plans for children. She had a very good career, holidays all over the world, bought whatever she wanted. And then Mother Nature had other ideas. I was living abroad at the time and the first time I saw him I fell in love so the house abroad went up for sale

50. He's now at uni.

I was 59 when the first was born and 63 when the second arrived. I had my first baby at 22 so thought I would be a grandmother before my late 50s.

50 - she's 16 now and I've loved every minute of it.

I was 61 when GS was born. I was very fit and had bags of energy. Where on earth did it all go??

I was 38 when the first one was born and 64 when the last one was born, I'm now 67. I was also working while the older 6 were small they are all grown now I'm very involved with one of the younger ones and one lives abroad. I don't feel I'm any different with them than the others.

61 and she was 10 in the summer. DGD2 is 7
